Let's say we have 8 spots left, signing day comes and we only sign 6 of those 8 with the rest of course. Can you carry over the 2 that you don't sign to the next class or use them or loose them?

So, I believe 85 total on the team at one time, but is there a limit to how many you can sign in one year? Say you had 25 open, but with 10 seniors leaving, is that 35? I.E. after you are full, then you can only sign the number of seniors that leave and any other situations that free one up.

One last ?, what situations result in a player leaving, but the spot is not freed up until they would have completed the 4 year term at school?

Thanks

25 per year maximum as long as you don't go over 85 total. With the Johns' transfer that brought us to 61 total on scholarship, so we can have 24 initial qualifiers this year.

RTO is correct. Also, word has it that Curtis Dawson is back at UA. We'll see if he immediately goes back on scholly or Shula makes him pay his own way for a semester or two. Then you have to consider the strong possibility that a guy or two will not return to the team next year. My bet is we eventually will bring in 25 come next fall.

If I am not mistaken there is somewhat an exception to the 25 a year limit. A coach can give a scholorship to a walkon (one already at the school) that was vacated by another player (ie. a transfer or no longer playing football). Seems like we did that before. The rules may have changed sense then.

A scholarship can be given to a walk-on provided he has been with the program a minimum of 2 years. He would then count against the 85 limit but not the 25 per year limit. Hope I got that right ;)

Since we're on the scholarship issue. Does a school have the option of which year an early enrolly counts towards, as in Florida's case? Provided that 25 from the previous year are not on scholly and you don't break the 85 rule. I have read some speculate as to that being the case, but they were not for sure.

Thanks for the feedback.

Is this the first year since CMS that we have had 85 on scollies? I assume that does not count walkons.

Walkon's are not counted on the 85 limit until they are awarded a scholarship. We have several walkon's that have been awarded a scholarship and they do count toward the 85.
