It seems necessary to care 2 or maybe 3 RB's on your roster who are not redshirted. I have had to go with my 3rd string RB even while running with my FB too. Until they get their stamina up (Jr or Sr) you will need some quality backups. I run about 75% of the time, still trying to master passing, so they come in handy. I run the FB a lot too (Castille) is is good.
When recruiting RB's I look for about a 200 lb Rb that has good speed and hands. Everything else is icing.
Presence would be nice, but I am usually controlling him so that negates that attribute. Speed is necessary to get around the corner or break away to go for 6. Hands are huge. You don't want to be down by 5 with 1:00 left and running out the clock on the 5 yard line and go for a last second TD and then fumble. Turnovers in this game can determine the winner and loser very easily.
