As I said yesterday, lots of changes in the past two weeks.

I believe we are counting 19 current commits, minus Kerry Murphy whom I do not think the staff counts, yet, due to not being qualified.

Sources say we take around 28. So, that leaves us anywhere from 8-10 spots left.

Academics of current commits:
RB Jermaine Preyear- needs a strong year in the GPA department to be eligible.
ATH Devonta Bolton- needs to maintain current pace in the GPA department to stay eligible.

He's been to every LSU home game this year. Don't believe we have backed off.

Question ... does the staff feel comfortable with the young DB's we have on campus now (plus the few commits we have at that position)?

In other words, do we project only 1 more at most because we're reasonably happy with who we have ... or because we're having difficulty landing anyone else?

I think that this is fairly close to the truth. CNS is going after the big timers and the DBs on our radar seem to be looking elsewhere. I think if we end up with anyone, it'd be Whitlock if we can pull him from USC (East). We are also looking good on top players at other positions, so I doubt the staff would take the first DB just to take a DB when a top player could take that spot.

We also know that Barron will be on D (maybe S), so that's one DB. If needed (assuming underclassmen don't step up in the spring), BJ could also be moved to S or CB, even though he is a little short for what CNS wants at S.

Interesting that Bama has the lead over All-Barn and F$U for Jarrell Harris.

This would be a huge pick-up for this class. We really need to sign Harris.

I'd love to see Bama sign Terrance Cody. The guy is a true DT, not a project (not a guy that's currently a DE and needs to put on 30 lbs so he can play DT) and would be a MASSIVE (literally and figuratively) run stopper at 6-5 400 lbs. If 400 lbs is his true weight (and that's according to Cody himself), my guess is that he would be the largest guy to ever play for Bama.

You only list JJ as being on the board as a WR at this point, which is not surprising but does the staff feel he's a lock? Is there really any chance of him going elsewhere?

Also, I thought we were getting cold on McClain - what's the plan there?

Finally - what are the chances of landing Brown? Is this going to be another Tebow where he likes Bama but he's been an OU fan for so long that he can't see himself leaving or do we have a real shot?

Academically, I think everyone else is ok.

If we don't get JJ, I don't see us filling that spot with another WR.

McClain is 3rd in the pecking order for 2 spots behind Jones and Glenn.

I feel we finish 2nd to OU for Brown.

Not RTO, but I'd assume JJ is the last WR we would consider taking b/c of the group we already have on board.

It is definitly down to the cream of the crop. The next 3 months or so until NSD should be very interesting to watch. It certainly looks like if Bama lands their top prospects, this will be a highly ranked class of very talented signees.

I echo Pachyderms comments. 0-1 DB was my big question. I got to hear CNS at the last scrimmage talk about the need for more DB's and then to see us not get a hotshot CB is a bit suprising.
