You understand that we are talking about, right? As in, this team was too talented to lose to Vandy, TN and the Sooners.
I have to confess, I did not read back through all the posts. I do agree they were too talented to lose to those three. But talent scattered across the team cannot overcome a bad performance day from a few key positions.
Still, to my point, we were not the most talented team in the country.

I was not talking about that - it was never mentioned. I was talking about your contention that Alabama was the most talented team in the country.

I agree that Alabama is more talented than OU and significantly more talented than Vandy. Their performance was not good vs either. It happens all of the time like OM vs UK, UGA vs UK and OM, OSU vs Michigan, LSU vs Alabama, etc. Alabama has had several bad performances under Saban as well.

Does that mean UGA, OM or OSU should not be in the CFP? No, and it has become plainer than it was at first that Alabama should have been included. The ACC has been pathetic and SMU was a disaster.

I was not going to respond further because we had both made our case and IMO, it was a question of how much one trusts the precision of the recruiting services. I never have, it seems you do.

This year Alabama may have 1 first round draft pick, 3 or so total in the first 2 days. If true, that would be easily the worst draft in ~15 years.

I agree - talent wasted. What a shame. But the talent is there, being wasted.

You’re putting words in my mouth. I didn’t say talent is being wasted much more than usual. Talent being wasted IMO, would be like Texas and OSU and any Cristobal coached team who have wasted more talent over the last 25 years than anyone else I can think of.

No, Alabama was incorrectly shut out of the playoff. It would have been nice to see them rather than SMU like many observed at the time.

Talent was recruited. Right? Most by Saban, who knows how to evaluate talent. Yet none of those guys, to use your description, are NFL ready. Wasted?

Nothing to do with the CFP. Everything to do with a loaded roster. A loaded roster of undeveloped players. Or maybe a loaded roster of players being held back? Not sure. But I am sure of one thing - it is a loaded roster.

Do you think UGA has a loaded roster? They lost 1 more game than Al and were fortunate to escape in multiple OTs vs GT, and was out played and should have lost to UK (won 13-12) who won 1 SEC game?

Do you think OSU has a loaded roster? They lost one more game than Ala and played a far less challenging schedule, losing to a 6-5, one legged Mich team. A one game difference vs a far less challenging schedule and are you saying OSU wasted no talent but Alabama’s talent was not developed? Makes no sense.

If the CFPC did not make a preposterous decision we wouldn’t be having this conversation. .

I'm lost. I'm not arguing the point, but Georgia and Ohio State lost 2 games each; Alabama lost 3.

Regarding player development, my son is a huge Philadelphia sports fan (my wife's side of the family influence) and although it was a long time ago, I think losing OL coach Jeff Stoutland may have been the beginning of the slide in terms of (at least) the troubles we saw with the OL in the second half of Saban's tenure at Bama.

I'm not saying it was the cause of it all, but I think he was a huge loss in terms of player evaluation and development.
