From what I've heard and seen it's all about the process of recruitment. I really believe he painted himself in a corner and didn't know how to get out without messing something up. Well luckily someone told him to let it dry first then look at things. Although the LOI has yet to be signed I still believe he comes to
Bama. I haven't seen him get in trouble and I think the Auburn coaches made him read that lil speech that was a carbon copy of what Yeldon said last recruiting season. He's just like any other kid now and but if this guys is really a hard worker like we've been hearing then we can sit back and watch the championship count grow.

Obligatory glad-we-re-flipped-Foster sentiment. Caused instant-celebration with 'Bama fans and instant-meltdown on the Barn boards, though I'm not really sure why on either front.

Does he stick come tomorrow? I have basically 0.001% confidence in him following through, not because of any specific information but just based on his past history. Don't mean to make it sound like animosity toward the kid because that is not the case, but the course of conduct is what it is, I'm afraid.

This much I do know ... that TV show was a bad idea last night. He looked pretty unsettled and nervous, and having his whole family out there didn't help. Nor did being stuck in Atlanta at midnight on a school night with academics to focus on. Again, glad he re-flipped, but the televised announcement last night wasn't exactly bright.

Hopefully he faxes in tomorrow and then we get some positive news on the academic front. Until both of those things happen, though, you'll find me heavily restrained in my excitement over this latest turn.

I rarely post on this board because I just don't know enough about HS kids in Alabama.

That said & knowing it will anger some, I would not count on anything with this guy until he signs the paper, his word is not his bond. I do understand all the Trooper stuff & that he is gone, however Ruben said on the he decieded on the way to the studio? What if he changes his mind on the way home.

All those who want him I sure hop it works out he is the kind of talent we need but is he the kind of person we want?

I know CNS will handle anyone on the team so I'm not gonna panic but Ruben Foster is the poster child for what is wrong with recruiting today.

Hope I'm wrong, he breaks all kinds of records & is a first round draft choice, but I'm not sure abou anything with this kid & that copying of TJ's letter I'm sure is not forgotten. He will have a lot of bridges to build.

It's great to have a commitment from a player of Foster's talent.

Now, let's see whether:
1. He sticks to his latest word, and actually signs on Wednesday,
2. His grades are in order, and he actually makes it on campus,
3. He works to the satisfaction of Saban and Cochran. No easy task, and one that apparently has given him pause in the past, and
4. Once he's in Tuscaloosa, working to the coaches' standards, he keeps his nose clean on the field, in the classroom and elsewhere.

As talented as he is, he needs Alabama more than Alabama needs him.

I think he was still undecided when he was asked and just chose a school on the spot. After he said he decided on the drive over, he then changed his answer and said, "just now".
I think he knows Bama is the safer school to get him into the NFL, which is his only reason for going to college. I think he has absolutely no interest in actually getting a degree or learning how to be a man in college. Saban's defense has put players in the NFL first round every year and will continue to do so. When Reuben said this was a" business decision, not personal", I knew he was choosing Bama. If it was personal, he would still be at the barn.
Foster really wants to go to Auburn, but doesn't trust Ellis Johnson will get him in the NFL. Gus Mahlzahn will recruit for and focus on the offense and let the defense fend for itself. When

I wonder if this was a surprise for Bama and this may have just turned someone's offer into a grayshirt offer. I'm thinking Walker Jones may get a grayshirt now.

Easy to forget these are still essentially boys in adult bodies - very few 17-18 year old kids are remotely mature. Heck I look back at most of my 20's and smh...

I hope we end up with him, but I won't lose sleep either way. We're so rich with talent right now one (even 5*) player doesn't make or break us anymore. Ridiculous talent level on campus.

This is an excellent point to remember. While we see these kids as young men, they are in essence still kids, and very vulnerable to the used car salesman tactics of someone like Trooper. Sometimes it just takes a little while for these kids to see the light. Like yourself, I hope he signs tomorrow, but either way we have a fantastic class.

I'll not be adding Foster to my personal list of new players until his fax arrives. He and other players with a checkered recruiting or personal record have a blank slate when they arrive at Title town. What they do with it is up to them.

1. I don't think he daughter is much older than 3--she looked like a big 3 but look at her daddy! She is precious and will be a major motivator for RF. He also noted that he is a life long Bama fan and so is his mother.
2. The "smoke and mirrors" comment was directed towards Auburn and I'm hoping that he finally saw through the BS surrounding that entire ordeal. As for the tattoo--easily (but painfully) removable/re-workable. Turn the web crimson and put the Alabama "A" in the middle. Done.
3. He said something about making a coach mad because of flipping and the wrath you would face if you decided to flip back. Said that coach would be on you and work you more than you wanted to be worked, yet he picked BAMA. He knows what he he is getting into and that he will have to be a work horse.
4. Bottom line--even through this circus, he knows that the route to the NFL starts with Saban in Tuscaloosa and by choosing to re-commit to Bama, he is accepting that he has more to prove than all the other signees in this class and he is ready for the challenge. I think he signs on the bottom line tomorrow and his LOI is one of the first we get.

As a Bama fan, obviously I am excited about the potential here for selfish reasons but also because it means this kid now has a fighting chance at being successful. He needs the structure and the atmosphere that Alabama offers. I think his decision will ultimately save his future.

Reuben can say he decided on the way to Atlanta if he wants. However, recruiting folks began picking Bama yesterday afternoon along with some posters on here saying it was Bama from what their sources said. Bo Scarbrough tells Andrew Bone that Reuben texted him at 1:00 a.m. Monday morning to say he was going to Bama. I wouldn't buy too much into the statement he decided on the way up to Atlanta.

This appears to be one case where the recruit realized he needed the school and the staff more than the school and the staff needed him. Glad he made that decision, too.
