I realy do not have an issue with 2 for 1 if both players get the opportunity. UT did it last year to get Rogers to decommit from UGA when they also offered Nance a decent QB but will only ever a backup and Auburn did it last year to get M Dyer from Arkansas by offering D Mosley. I have 2 problems with the way UGA is doing this. One I do believe he will be a sign and place and they will never bring him back and 2 the UGA fans are denying it is a 2-1 deal but legit. I am sure UGA has had sign and place kids before so why is Harrow any different and not get an offer before. UGA fans are screaming because he just qualified, heck if that was a real concern but actually a legit SEC player, Nutt would have already offered him.

people do this alot but Saban doesnt allow it if i remember correctly everyone said we gave lester a scholly cause of Julio but i think after last year that was proven not to be the case. Also Uga doesn't want to admit they are scared they will lose their top talent out of state.

I don't think CMR has to justify anything now. I just noticed this over on BOL but Quin Harrow just got changed from having 0 stars to having 3 stars. It's amazing that a three star talent like Harrow could go unevaluated for so long... :)
That's standard procedure for the recruiting services when a major program offers a kid they haven't evaluated.

I'm pretty sure we did because I think they both announced for Bama early. He just never qualified.
Actually it was the opposite, the Dareus brothers announced very late (on signing day I believe actually).

Just out of curiosity..How good was Demerius???..Was he as good as Marcel??..
No, he wasn't. He was a sign and place and I'm not even sure what he's doing now, but I don't believe he's even playing football.

Others thought the same when we recruited Lester and Julio, but Lester had legit offers, and has contributed at a high level.
I still remember watching a high school game on ESPN when Foley played someone, I was more impressed with Lester than Julio and glad we offered. He led the nation in INT's this year best I can recall.

It's nothing new. We did the same while recruiting tebow and got stuck with a future medical hardship player for 4 years.

Its not a bad move especially if you can use all the good pub you can get like Richt can. It only sucks for him if he doesnt get Crowell. Honestly, I don't expect it to have much impact on IC, however I still see him siginin with UGA at this point.
Like you pointed out, Lester was a legitimate BCS conference prospect out of high school regardless of Julio Jones. He had offers to the better regional schools and he's performed at the collegiate level once given the opportunity. Saban has a long history of not playing the "2-for-1" game because it's a numbers killer. When you can recruit like he can, it makes little sense to waste one of the 25 slots for a marginal athlete to land a 5-star athlete. He could just go sign two 4-stars instead and call it a win.

Also, my understand about the Dareus brothers was that Demerius had little hope of ever qualifying for a major college. Allowing him to commit was really simply a gesture by the staff for the sake of the family. Everyone knew he was never going to end up at Alabama or probably any other D-1 school for that matter. Not because of athletic ability - he obviously comes from some good genes (haha) - but because of academic ability.
