Right now, Tennessee has a better football program than Bama does

The only way to support your argument would be to consider the last three seasons where Tennessee has two of the last three. That said, during that same period Alabama has made the playoffs the exact same number of times as Tennessee… albeit Bama made a four team field whereas Tennessee made a twelve team field….however Tennessee would not have made the playoffs in a four team field so that adds some context as far as I’m concerned. Take into account that Bama is in the first year of a coaching transition and the fact that Bama has won a title within the last five years (slightly outside of that three year window)…. I disagree with your assessment of this particular situation.

Meh both are going to wind up 10-3. Yes, they were one play better or one might say better at the QB position. Even UT fans I’ve talked to know they got away with one. But we trended that way THIS season. If Bama had gone 6-6 and was 30th in recruiting then you may be on to something. But, we’re going to be top 2-3 (depending on the site) and should win 10 games.

All I know is Tennessee, and their fans, must think BAMA is still the better program. They beat us a couple of years ago, stormed the field, and threw the goalposts in the river. One would think they would figure their program is getting better. We won last year, and then they won again this year. So, they storm the field and throw the goalposts in the river again. They must still think they are second rate, and conquering BAMA is the ultimate prize. Stupid is as stupid does.

I would need to see Tennessee do better than Bama for more than one season to be considered "seriously behind". Last year Tennessee finished #17. This year is a fluke for Tennessee and I expect they will return to mediocrity next season.

This is a pretty absurd take. Tennessee wasn't even that good this year. Barley beat Arkansas. They were in a close game with Kentucky this year. Needed OT to beat a Florida. They weren't world beaters this year.

We had a down year during a major transition. We still are recruiting better than they are. We lost by 7 on the road and most of us who saw that game know with better QB play we probably win.

They also now have arguably the hardest path to a championship in the playoffs. They'll have to beat Ohio State, Oregon and likely Texas just to make the championship game.

I haven't read all the posts, but feel there is some merit in the fact that UT has at least pulled even with Alabama, better not sure yet. From 2008-2019 approximately, the SEC top teams almost every year were Alabama and LSU. I would say at this point those two teams have been supplanted by Georgia and Texas. The next tier, IMO would include Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, Tier 3 would include, again IMO, South Carolina, Missouri, and LSU. The only other potential competitive tier would be Auburn, Florida, and Oklahoma. I am not sure when we will return to the top of the conference, that is yet to be determined but it ain't going to be an easy climb.

They were fairly mediocre this year. I don’t know how they ended up 10-2, I was not impressed with their team this year at all, could easily have been had by Bama , I fully expect Ohio State to beat them by double digits.

This is a 12 team playoff.

Tennessee is in it.

Bama is not.

It's one thing to say Tennessee is on the way up while Bama might be on the way down.

Tennessee is in with ease.

Bama is not and out with clarity.

This is not like saying well Bama should be in, because well ... who does Indiana or SMU or whoever ... play?

We're talking about Tennessee.

Tennessee's football program has exceeded Bama's football program. Not by a little bit either. By a substantial amount. Enough to be very well entrenched in the playoffs while Bama was begging to be included.

Those of you supporting Bama elements with money (I know I am -- though I am seriously re-thinking it), are you supporting the right groups? Maybe we're not. We're probably not. I would encourage everyone who is doing this to take a hard look into who you're supporting.

We can all laugh it up but why is Bama seriously behind Tennessee right now?

Give me some evidence that Bama is in a better position than Tennessee. I'll take it but nobody has brought it.
Maybe we are.

If so, so what?

Also, last I checked we won the SEC a year ago and TN hasn’t won that or a NC in over 25 years.

Did you expect to remain the undisputed, dominant program forever?

Im not even sure what your point is other than caterwauling about a subpar season.

Then again, I recognize that Mr. Churchill was a very heavy drinker.

You and I have similar viewpoints. What bothers me is those with crimson colored glasses on here who feel you are challenging their fandom if you suggest that Bama may have a period that is below par for what we knew in the Nick Saban years. While I do believe CKD will right the ship I also believe it will be harder for Bama to sustain dominance year after year in the future. The new college football model dictates that you can’t be at the top of the heap every year (ie. NIL, transfer portal).

Not sure if you are referencing this particular thread but almost all objections was we are "significantly" behind Tennessee which is absolutely, positively false. I think almost all of us know that without Saban and the current status of how college football is being run we are not going to be as dominant as we have been.

You have your opinion like I have mine, but to say UT is on the upside and Bama is going down I don't think so, UT is lucky they are not 8-4, Florida should've beat them if Napier goes for 2, Bama should've been up 3 scores at half and UT could not continue to run their game plan, and also if it was not for nil they wouldn't have the players that they have because I'm not sold on Bobby Hill as a recruiter, do you really think Nico would've came to UT if wasn't for nil money that he got, you gotta have more than one season to say they are better

Just for the record I don’t think Tennessee is better than us. However, I do think they are going to be a force to be reckoned with moving forward. Their rise along with our being a little less than the dominant teams of the past will make it a more level playing field.
