Rondo to enter NBA Draft

Kentucky point guard Rajon Rondo has decided to forgo his last 2 years of eligibility and enter the NBA draft. Rondo announced that he is hiring an agent and hopes to be a high pick in the upcoming draft. I'm sure if he doesn't get drafted, Tubby will find a magical memo, and the NCAA will slap Rondo's hand on his way back to UK.

has it rondo was a cancer in the locker room and tubby and his boys will be happy for him to go.
An absolute case of addition by subtraction. Both sides should get what they want...Rondo will make his money riding the bench in the NBA, and Tubby will rid his team of a completely selfish player.

Honestly, I've never understood why so many people thought he was such a great player. I mean he's a good defensive player, but he's not a good shooter. I would be very surprised if he was drafted in the first round. He's got great size for a point, but until he develops some sort of a complete offensive game, I don't see him as anything more than a little used reserve in the NBA.

Hmmm...

part of the PG's effectiveness is his ability to take it to the basket or beat you with the jumper. RR is missing the "J" part. The argument with the cats about who was the better PG, RS or RR sort of died out this year. I'll be very interested to see where in the draft he goes...

Completely agree.

Because of his shooting and his simply better offensive game I'd take RS anyday. If he goes in the first round it'll be bc he has potential (i.e. Gerald Wallace) or bc he's over rated. I tend to believe its over rated.

Rajon Rondo has been overrated since he came to college. I give him credit he is one of the quickest players ive ever seen and has good defense, but he has no jumper and does not show up in big games. Jumping to the NBA is a terrible move for him.

I agree that Rondo is completely overrated. If Steele played at UK everyone would be singing his praises. I will say that Rondo was probably the best rebounding guard in the country, but I'm not sure that offsets the fact that he didn't seem to be much of a leader on the court and wasn't exactly a good shooter. He was downright dreadful at the free throw line at 57%.

FWIW, I also think that Randolph Morris isn't nearly as good as the hype he gets.

I couldn't agree with you more. His is a situation where looking back, he should have made that jump from high school directly to the NBA. If I remember correctly he was projected as a definite first rounder maybe even a high first rounder. Now with his performances in college, he's anything but a lock for the first round. But as they say, hindsight is 20/20!

I live in Louisville and all I hear about on sports radio up here is how complete Rondo is! They admit he needs work on his J but say he has the rebounding, quicks, and defensive skills to blossom in the NBA. Other defenses for his poor play include lack of team chemisty, not having any talent around him, and feuds with Tubby and rest of team wanting to make him look bad. I sure hope bama fans don't defend players on nearly baseless grounds. Rondo is a second rounder/bench rider waiting to happen. I think T. Green, R. Steele, and maybe even the PG for South Carolina all played much better this year.

i also agree with all of the posts that suggest rondo shoots like a 1st grader. i do however wonder how he was able to get to the basket so often when everyone knew he couldn't shoot.
