Rush Propst

haven't heard that one. Coach Shula was in that area this week talking to coaching staffs. It'd be a good idea to keep a fresh face around there with several good prospects from Hoover and Spain Park in '06.

Heard the suggestion made for this on fri on the Finebaum show. That's probably where the rumor originated. There's nothing to it if you ask me. Why would CMS fire DR after he has recently moved his family from Tulsa?

Believe me...

CDR leaves only if he wants to. I didn't know that he had moved his family to T-Town. That's even more evidence that he's ensconced as the QB coach and assistant OC... :)

Ok...

careful there...:) There have always been signs that CDR was a short-termer - his initial remarks; leaving his family in Tulsa and keeping his business there open. Moving the family is more indication that he's settling in. I welcome the news. CDR is a much more "wide-open" offensive mind, compared to CMS's "NFL" approach. I hope he continues to be an influence towards varying the "O" more - when we get the personnel back to run a decent offense...

HSV, I agree wholeheartedly with you. It's a good sign if Rader is settling in. Here's a question for you that know more than I do. If Rader was to leave, would it be better to have someone new brought in or would it be better to have someone "groomed" for a year or two in the system and simply promote them to "assistant OC" or in his case would it matter at all?

I have a friend who's spouse teaches at Hoover. Apparently CMS was there this past week. Although I'm told that's not an uncommon occurance. But, it may be why the rumor mill is grinding.

Just curious, but was Radar in this for the long haul?

Interesting..

to speculate on. My bet would be that he would elevate Sparky, because he and Wyatt are the next most likely to leave. Making CSW a coordinator might keep him around a while longer...

From what I know about Propst he is a great hs coach. And I think would be a great addition to Bama's staff. However, I don't know if it would be a good move to put him as the OC straight from hs. It seems like if you did hire him it would be as a position coach first then move him up if he was doing well. I would like to see him use his Alabama connections in recruiting.
ROLL TIDE!

I really like Buddy Wyatt. I hope we don't lose him. Not to take anything away from Coach Shula, but, based on what I am seeing and reading, he and Coach Randolph are big reasons why we have had such great success in recruiting over the last two seasons. One example I know for a FACT is Lo Washington....

Why wouldn't CMS take time to meet with Propst if he was in the area? That's just good recruiting practice. CPB always cultivated the HS coaches, he knew they were the lifeblood of his team. That's one of the main reasons he was adamantly against playing on Thursday or Friday nights, he wonuldn't do anything that had even the potential of harming high school football.

Ok, I was hoping you'd speculate that way :) I really like CSW and CBW as well and I'd hate to lose them. Maybe they see that possibility and will stick around long enough to get that opportunity.

I live in Bham and theres a rumor going around that Shula was at Hoover interviewing Propst for the OC position. Does anyone know if there is any truth behind this?

I don't know why he was there but yes he was. I teach at Hoover and one of my e-mails yesterday was a picture of him and a secretary who is a big Bama fan. Of course he may have been there to see Cory Reamer and make sure he is going to honor his verbal.

I don't see Rader leaving anytime soon! But if want to talk about local highschool coaches Joey Jones has done a great job at Mountian Brook and would be a very good OC.

Not a knock on Rush Propst he is a very good coach and has done a great job at Hoover. But if you have been to Hoover and seen the talent they are starting to pour out they will rule the state for years to come. My sons HS is in the same area and plays 6A and we might have 55 players. Hoover could put 200 on the sidelines if they wanted too!

Shula has done a great job recruiting Hoover and the best thing about it is it's only 45 minutes away.

This staff...

doesn't go out of its way to cater to CRP, for a variety of reasons, which I'm not going to go into. I would be very surprised if the visit didn't have to do with our commitments there...
