@crimsonaudio posted this in the old thread just before it was closed.

There are going to be a LOT of uncorroborated reports over the coming days. It is going to require exceptional discernment to separate the wheat from the chaff.
his may be true (I hope it is), but I really doubt it, given the general contempt ethnic Russians have for ethnic Ukrainians. Surrendering to Ukraine surrendering to Auburn in football. Not bloody likely.

As an American, the first thing you can do to help the Ukrainians end this war is to dramatically limit your use of natural gas and gasoline. Those are the life bloods of the Russian economy (and a few of the other warring countries).

Gas an oil are fungible commodities. Gas from the U.S. burns a lot like gas from Russia.
That said, you are correct. The less the U.S burns, the more we can sell to the Europeans. They are the ones who buy most of Russia's gas and oil.

My thoughts -

Russia needs to be kicked off the UN security council. Kicked from the UN. Immediately.

Freeze all Russia assets - both government, private, and personal. Any Russian held private property as well.

Revoke diplomatic passports, and force them to leave.

All imports/exports to & from Russia must end.

Bring in Finland & Sweden into NATO - immediately.

We'd already be selling more to Europe, but we don't have the export capacity.

Agreed on all but the last two. I am not sure Sweden and Finland want to be in NATO, especially seeing what lengths Russia has gone to to prevent Ukraine from joining. Just because Finland presents the Kremlin with a fait accompli (NATO membership) does not mean Russia will not screw with the Finns hard (up to, but not including military invasion if they are NATO members).

Earle couldn’t reply, previous thread was closed, but I meant the Russian people. There have already been several interviews with Russian citizens who are not in favor of this; how they ultimately react/respond will ultimately determine what happens in the not-too-distant future. I think most of them understand Putin is a snake, but how far they will let him go is the question.
He can’t successfully fight a war at home while fighting Ukraine (or the West), and that report about that division surrendering is a big flashing red light.
