I am taking my wife to eat some steak and a la cart tonight for her birthday. I know it is expensive but for all she has been thru and myself over the last 2 years I can't think of a better place to escape for a couple of hours even it means spending a couple of C-notes. She would much rather have my steak but since it will still be 95 degrees this afternoon I thought we would go to Ruths relax and have a great dinner. My sister-in-law is watching our 2 yr. old. I can't wait for some Tail Gaters Tea as well.:)

What is everyone's experience and I know the cost is great but the spurlge is worth it to me, how about you? What do you recommend from there?

Like your wife, I prefer the taste of my husband's home-grilled steaks. That being said, Ruth's Chris is an enjoyable experience. I've eaten at several of them and the service and atmosphere have always been beyond reproach. The food is very good, but I've had better for the price. I am quite certain you and she will enjoy yourselves.

Cowboy Ribeye, Lyonnaise Potatoes, Sliced Tomato and Onion Salad. The creamed spinach is also good if you have room for it.

Hmmm, just looking over their menu again makes my mouth water! Great atmosphere for something special (your wife's birthday)! Why not? Go ahead -- splurge and enjoy yourselves!

If you decide on an appetizer -- their Crabtini is a great! And while I'm not big on mushrooms -- I understand their crab stuffed mushrooms are delicious as well.

They have a veal stuffed ravioli that is simply insane. I'm sure all the appetizers are great but I have only had a few because I want to save room for the huge steak. :)

never been - if my wife & I ate how much cash would I drop...?
Conservative speaking, $100, Liberal speaking $150 and up.

A steak starts about $25 up to $38, they have a filet for 2 that costs about $80. When you order is what you get. You have to add things to your order if you want more than just steak, a la cart, sides are enough for 2 though. I ate at the one in Centennial Park in ATL. We are eating at the one in Huntsville tonight. It is located in the Embassy Suites downtown.

Dinner for two, staying away from the bar and wine list, should run around $120 plus gratuity.

I had one rather shocking check with a dinner for four because of a wine selection by my wife. It was more than I paid for my first Rolex watch.

Making the little wife happy: PRICELESS!

My wife loves RC's also. My favorite was in Gretna outside of New Orleans. The worst was in Las Vegas. Other greats are Ft. Lauderdale, Lenox area in ATL, and Oakland, CA. I like their wonderful martinis. So, I enjoy staying at the Lenox Marriott after enjoying an evening at RD across the street. The wife and I also enjoy this as a special weekend treat.

I've been to several and I think the last one I went to was in Ft. Lauderdale. Pre- Mrs. VJ. My date and I were drinking up the joint, and I ordered a couple of bottles of champagne that came in those little silver ice buckets they sit on a a fancy stand. Those bottles of champagne set me back well over a couple of C-notes. And this was probably 12 years ago.

Steak? It was probably good.

I like Ruth's Chris a lot. I love a steak from the backyard more, but RC's steaks just have that different taste that is really good. Good BBQ Shrimp, too.

I actually went to the on in Baton Rouge that had Speckled Trout with some on it as a special and it was incredible.

In Atlanta the pecking order is:

Bones.......always Bones for number one in Atlanta,,,on Piedmont,,try the mile high pie at the end if you have room...really ice cream...also one of the best lobsters in town

McKendricks......has to be second......if there is such a thing as first and second here

Chops on West Paces Ferry comes in third......hey all three of these are great!!!!!!.....good lobster here too....too noisy/busy for my taste though...probably not if I were 20 years younger

Ruths' Chris Steak House in the next rung.... a couple of locations in Atlanta...all the above have prime steaks...the Japanese steak at the top two

Be ready to part with a few bills, especially if your wife likes to drink liquor and you like red wine, which mine does and I do!!!!!

I love a good steak made by someone else and a good lobster and drawn hot butter laid out for me........even though I can/do them great too......always fun to show the wife off too!!!!!

I have never eaten at a Ruth Chris' Steakhouse. I have heard their food is very good. I will have to take my fiance sometime in the future.
