Re: Saban answers queston about Jimmy Johns on "hey coach"(pay attention 'doubters'!)

CA is right. There have been off the field factors as well. I don't know what it will take to get all the fans (I think most do) thinking "Big Picture," which he calls "process." We've had four years of a limber-spined HC playing people who wouldn't have been on the field, if he hadn't turned his head at what they were doing. (And, whether you got punished at all depended on who you were.) When he suspended folks, he did transparent things like staggering the suspensions "so as not to hurt the team." Well, he didn't "hurt" the team, he ruined it. I am 100% behind CNS' player selection, because I know he's right for the long term, even if it does cost a game or two this year. It's been a long time since I've been able to make that statement about one of our HCs. Second guessers (he's noticed we have a few) can have their fun; I'll place my trust in CNS' judgment. And, BTW, I DO know why he's not been playing...

Not really. It's just damned frustrating to hire a coach of his quality, know why he's doing what he's doing, and then hear folks taking shots in the dark at him. I know I should expect it, but it's frustrating all the same. You'd think people would suspend judgment on him for at least a season before they start armchair second guessing... /rant

Asked what he has done to give Saban this belief, Capps merely shrugs: "I'm supposed to go to class, I go to class. I'm supposed to be on time for meetings, I'm on time for meetings. Not very hard."
Just like Chris Capps said "Not very hard"

Yeah I think CNS is going to have a few things up his sleeve for the Barn. I'm sure nothing would make him happier than to bury Wingnut right before he skips to AtM.

Just messin' with ya, Earle.

Didn't know what the reason was, but knew there WAS a reason.

Re: Saban answers queston about Jimmy Johns on "hey coach"(pay attention 'doubters'!)

I have read many posts, some on this thread and many on others that say: "CNS (or any other coach the university hires) job is to win games". Hmmm, funny I thought we were talking ALABAMA FOOTBALL, I thought their job was to win championships.

Be careful! you're letting everyone know how much you really understand about being a champion.

Oh, I know that. It's my belief that coaches who play players who don't belong on the field for multiple reasons, just to win a game, have their chickens come home to roost - sooner or later. Any post that suggests that we should play a player whom the HC knows shouldn't play, just to win a game, gets under my skin. I can't help it. It's just not Bama. I like the Bama which suspends a Namath for a bowl game...

Jimmy Johns started the ULM game at tailback. He carried the ball on the first play. ;)

like what? I'm not being obtuse, I just see how this particular team can pull off anything tricky or any new packages when they can't even run the basics.
