Good article LBSWriter!

If Bama keeps winning, I hope our fan base will be graceful winners and not shove it in opposing fans' faces. Too often we've seen that what goes around, comes around. Tennessee being a good case in point. During the latter 1990s and first half of the 2000s Tennessee fans earned every bit of bad karma that's come their way these past few years. I don't want that to be us in the 2020s.
You are not kidding...be humble when winning and appreciate Saban and your team. Enjoy the ride, but be humble. RTR.

Given the amount of new faces on defense in '10, I fully expected us to drop at least one possibly to LSU. I didn't think we'd lose to Garcia and USCe and I sure as heck didn't think we'd lose to the Barn. So, I guess you're right about us underachieving. I did see that an old tendency for either the coaches to take their foot off the gas or the players letting up after getting a sizable lead really nailed us in the Auburn game. How many times does Coach Saban have to say the word "UTAH" before players start getting it. We did not take Utah seriously and we spent the entire game trying to find the unit or units that got us there. We did the same thing in the second half of the Barn game. I believe that both the coaches and players were at fault in that one. This season I saw the coaches have a lot less tendency to take their foot off the gas. As a result there was only one close game, and we lost that one. I know some folks may argue with me but I've felt for a while that AJ is a much more natural QB than GMac. His accuracy and his ability to see the field is much better than Greg's. I'm really looking forward to seeing a more mature AJ light 'em up in '12. I think he has an ability to win games when our young DBs have a so-so game here and there. An ability that I only saw a few times with Greg in '09 and that was in the SECCG and the previous week against the Barn.

I was expecting things to turn around under Coach Saban, but I wasn't prepared for the 'Quick' turnaround...
I wasn't prepared for seasons like 2010 when a 3 loss season,
became a 'Down Year'...
Looking back I see where the loss to Utah was used to show our players that they had to buy into Coach Saban's philosophy, or be ordinary... Like the line from 'The Blues Brothers'... 'I Have Seen The Light'...
Most of our players 'Saw The Light'... and got on board 'The Saban Express'.

(Regrettably, I few players failed to comprehend, and didn't buy into
'The Process', Those players soon found their future was not playing
Alabama Football...)

After several years of wandering in a probation induced wilderness,
Coach Saban arrived and has been our 'First Class Ticket',
back to the top of College Football. :BigA:

No matter what anyone says, all those bye weeks our opponents had were a factor in 2010. It had the cumlative effect of wearing our team down some.

This should be foremost in everyone's mind considering what we went through, going from the top to very near the bottom. Even though I feel like I want to shout to everyone about our return and give back some of the "stuff" I had to take from other fans, it's enough to just sit and watch them squirm over the success of Coach Saban, staff and teams. You can't read an article about Bama now without seeing good things said about us, not too long ago I didn't want to see what they said about us.

Bama should never have lost that game to Auburn in 2010. That still has me scratching my head.

I honestly think at the end of the season, Bama may have been the best team in the country. Just look at how they blew away a very good Michigan State University! That game actually could have been much worse than 49 to 7. The Defense was totally awesome and the Offense was clicking. That game was against a pretty good QB, Cousins. I think he'll, Cousins, do good in the NFL.

I don't think the team came totally together until after the Barn loss.

I would have loved to see that defense in the BCS NC game against Oregon, instead of the Barn.

Okay! We got 2 BCS NC's in the first five years! How many are we gonna get in the NEXT five years.

The most storied football team in College football history. That is NOT arrogance! It's just a FACT that others must live with like ND, USC, Michigan, The Ohio State U., Texas, Oklahoma, et al!!!!!!!

Someone needs to come out with an UPDATED book about the Storied History of The Alabama Crimson Tide to UPDATE Winston Grooms book. That storied history has improved so much in the last THREE (3) years. I would buy it. I'm sure there's someone on TideFans who can do that and make a few coins in the process.:BigA:

Also, I never want to see the Alabama Crimson Tide on probation ever again! That history in the late 1990's and early 2000's was just plain part of the Medieval Period, i'e' Dark Ages in Alabama football. I NEVER want to see that again!!!!!!! I say this today because of an article at al.com about LC's recruitment (may have been Scarbinsky's article). Bama doesn't need to cheat to be good!

There needs to be a law passed in the state of Alabama that would give the DEATH penalty to any person who would cause such a thing!

The BCSNCG sent a message to the rest of the SEC. That Bama is BACK at a level that hasn't been seen since the Bryant years and many of today's college fan hasn't seen that kind of team. I firmly believe LSU and the rest of the college football world was ready to crown a new "King of the SEC". LSU has really been the new kid on the block with regard to being a part of the elite programs in the country. They've had great success in the 00's and if they'd won January 9th would have elevated themselves into a class all by themselves with regard to number of BCS Titles. But unfortunately for LSU and the rest of the college football world Alabama had other plans and IMO the January 9th game was a "coming out party" and a national announcement to the rest that Alabama is about to put it into another gear and go on a major roll of championship success.

I do agree that a lesson should be learned from our last "down time". And that is be gracious and humble about our success. Nothing wrong with being proud of it but being proud of our success and rubbing it in the faces of others are two different things.

He also found more at Bama than he expected. He, much like every coach to sit in the chair, was overwhelmed. He has made the adjustments and learned how to use what's available here and it's showing. He's really changed the last couple of years because of our culture.

Great article Larry! There is very fine line between confidence and arrogance.

I understand why so many Alabama fans wanted some of our rivals to taste a little of their own medicine, especially after being pushed around for way too long. Now I am siding with those who are calling for Alabama fans to start acting like Alabama fans are supposed to act.

In other words, let's start showing what Alabama class is all about!

Coach Saban sets a great example and so do our players, so it is time for all of our fans to follow their example and show the rest of the country just how much class Alabama fans have.

Alabama fans are the best fans on the country and I refuse to let a few loose screws overshadow the rest of us. For that reason I am planning to go the extra mile when dealing with other teams fans next season in an effort to show them how real Alabama fans act.

Roll Tide!

I think Les Miles will be the next head coach to crumble under the Sabanator. Think about it. Fulmer beat Saban and ticked him off. Tuberville beat him and ticked him off. Urban beat him and ticked him off. Now, when Les beat him on Nov. 5th, it obviously really ticked him off. High expectations next year for Les and I think he never recovers from tihs beating...just like all the other coaches received after they ticked Saban off.

My barn fan fishing buddy asked me a few months ago if I really thought Bama had a chance to win the 2010 IB. He was dead serious and I looked serious back to him and said that there was no doubt in my mind that Bama had an excellent chance to win that game. Bama had about a 27 point lead at half time but for some reason they took their hand off the throttle. He just rolled his eyes as if he couldn't believe I was that stupid. I asked him if he had heard the new motto posted in the locker room "never again"? he said he hadn't so I told him it was there and it mean't that Bama would not let up ever again until the game was firmly in hand and final seconds were ticking off the clock, and it was posted especially for Aubarn. I still don't believe he got it, until this past IB anyway. I honestly cannot ever remember Bama playing a game that they didn't have a chance to win.
