Nice. About them. Hmmmmm...... Well, I know of one of them that is about to be very familiar with the inside of a jail cell.
I have a handful of friends who graduated from AU, and they are knowledgeable, classy, well-informed fans. They're realistic about expectations for AU, they respect the Alabama program, and they've never been mouthy or abrasive about the rivalry. We frequently have good football dialouge.
As for every other Auburn fan that I've ever known....
As a general rule they are arrogant, self-righteous, mouthy, abrasive, and cultish. During the height of Auburn's recent Iron Bowl winning streak they took every possible opportunity to berate Alabama, and I don't just mean the football program. All you ever heard from these folks was how Tuscaloosa was a filthy town, and how Alabama was a crooked program that had cheated for years and would continue to cheat, and how Alabama was doomed to mediocrity for years to come and how they would never beat Auburn again. Additionally there were constant rants about how beautiful the Auburn campus is, how great of a "family" environment they have down there, how it's a much better academic institution, how the football program was so strongly rooted in Christian values, etc. All of this completely unprovoked, might I add.
So because of these folks it's quite hard for me to say anything good about AU. I can honestly say I pull against them every time they take the field. Hate it for my decent AU friends, but because of these other folks I hope Auburn loses every game they ever play. I've never seen a fan base collectively behave like these people.
He looks like he is choking on bile.Thank you for bringing Pat Dye back!
