so until they got letters, Directv had no problem offering the B1G10 network but not the SEC? Wouldn't it have made sense to make those 2 a regional option?

I get pretty close to 30 mbps. I think Uverse tops out around 12.5 or so. I also only have the middle grade of Comcast. They promise a good bit more than that with their top speed, which last time I checked was something like $25 more per month. It's not worth it to me. Another thing about cable - I get much better speeds now. It used to be that I could tell a real difference from during the day (I work a good bit from home), as compared with late afternoon, when everyone would get home and get on it. Comcast has the pod saturated enough now that I can scarcely tell the difference. I understand that's not true with the competing cable company here in HSV. All delivery systems have choke points somewhere. With Uverse, it's just further upstream...

Thanks for responding, I get the 450 plus all the premium sho hbo all of them something like 15 or more. 18 Mbs internet Just a lot of channels Internet, tv,3 boxes dvr about 137 total taxes and all but i have to stay on them, for specials. But its finicky trying to make it work with my onkyo surround sound, they don't work well together.

I've never had Uverse, but I've never heard anyone mention positive things about it until this thread. I had regular ATT fiber, and I hated every moment. Now Comcast is offering 50mbps, I'm still on the 26 plan, but my speedtest puts me at a consistent 40Mbps. I stream a lot of tv and movies and am generally impatient with the internet though. I'm hoping Google Fiber makes it to my house though :)

I have only one possibility; DirecTV. I am hearing to expect that IF it is available, it will likely be within a bundle that will cause rates to go up $2- 5 per month. Anyone got anymore specifics regarding DirecTv?
I have contacted DirecTV by email and phone. Both times they had said they don't have plans to carry the SEC Network. I told them I would be cancelling my service with them in August if they did not carry it. However, they did give me the Sports Pack for 6 months free.

I've got DirecTV and ATT. I pay about $70 for DirecTV and $50 for ATT DSL. I'd love to move to U-Verse but they don't offer it where I live. I generally like DirecTV, but if they don't offer the SEC Network I'll drop them in a heartbeat.

Honestly, if I could just get the ESPN networks and the big 4 I'd be fine. I have Netflix so my kids can watch whatever they would want to watch. My wife, though, has to have all her female stuff to she can keep up with the Kardashians and see who is the best/worst cook.

I quit Direct TV because they have Northern Ky. in region for BIG 10 TV. ATT has Fox sports 1 and 2, and other Fox cannels pllus the Big 10. They don't do regions, and even have the bovine channel in a pay cow pkg.

I quit directv because I moved and I now am facing the northwest. I did not know they don't do regions.

I think all the satellites are to the south. My problem is that I'm in the middle of 3 acres of woods and it would be hard to get a knitting needle out along the line that the signals would have to come in on. I was disappointed in DTV when they installed on my neighbor's roof, when there was no possibility of reception. Needless to say, they have reception in winter, but not when the trees leaf out. DTV comes out and "adjusts" their dish, but it doesn't really help. They're just waiting until their subscription runs out to change back to cable...

Since we are on the subject of TV providers...I have had both Direct and Dish and far and away like Dish better. It is also my internet provider through Wild Blue and works pretty well for satalite internet. Where I live it has to be pointed South.
To tie this to being a football thread I have submitted a request to Dish to offer SEC Network in my region ;)

My Uverse is 24Mbps but that is the highest they offer, and they only offer it if your signal is very good. It all depends on the area.
It depends how far you are from the VRAD. Since it is VDSL the last mile,(not fiber optics like they advertise) the further away the slower your speed. I get 18Mb for internet, but that is just a portion of the 32Mb DSL line. The other part is for TV. My Comcast was definitely faster, but it wasn't reliable. So I had to cancel.

Good news is Google just announced my city as one of the possible expansion cities for Google Fiber.

I have Uverse for my phone and internet, but Directv for my tv, but only because I was already in a contract with Directv when I switched to Uverse for the other. From what I understand, Directv will not be carrying the SEC network. My Directv contract expires this June so if they still refuse to carry the SEC network by that time, then Uverse is only a phone call away.

I believe you would see the difference in streaming. I'd have a hard time leaving Comcast. I've had the same email address for 14 years with them now (and three years before that with @Home). Literally thousands of people have that address. I have the same "eself" with Hiwaay and I've been trying to phase that out for a couple of years. Just about when I'm about to pull the trigger, I'll get something in under it and I go "dammit can't do it yet..."
Isn't that what the Godfather said? Every time I try to leave they pull me back in!

LOL! Something like that. I've had the Hiwaay address even longer - probably right at the 20 years or so they've been around. I guess the taper-off is probably necessary...

We had UVERSE and loved it. But we moved and we are in the "dead" zone for our side of the street-too far away from the hub. We switched to DTV and it's been fine but I will drop it when the contact runs out if they stick to not carrying it.
