SECCG Tiebreaker scenario mess

I'm waiting for the day a team tanks a conference championship game to rest their starters in preparation for the playoffs.

Then we might have serious discussion about ending these needless games.
yep, I said it would happen when the playoffs expanded. the autobid for conference champs might postpone the inevitable

I love the great memories of the SECCG. I guess it's becaues they've so good to Bama and helped us in the BCS era and even initial CFP.

However, I think with the expanded playoff, they've outlived their usefulness.

It really is nuts how this is going down...

So... Not that we would... But... Could we decline an SEC title game slot if it looked like we were a 95% lock for the playoffs at 10-2 and 20% with chaos needed at 10-3?

I do think you play and just aim to win, but a playoff run would serve us better than an SEC title game win or loose in terms of recruiting.

The FSU loss is coming back to bite unfortunately. But our schedule is going to be used against us as well.

I still don't get it. Georgia has one conference loss, same as us, and we beat them.

So how could they be in the SECCG over us?
In a 3 or 4 way tie head to head only comes in to play after looking at the SEC opponents winning %. If that eliminates all but 2 and those 2 have played each other then head to head comes back into play.

It would depend on where the two highest ranked G5 champions ended up, as CFP rules say that the 5 highest ranked champions from "any conference" get automatic bids.

If, say, the AAC champ (let's go with Navy) and the Sun Belt champ (JMU) both finish higher in the final CFP rankings than the ACC champion, they would get the #11 and #12 spots, and the ACC would likely get left out unless the committee - in it's infinite wisdom - gave the ACC an at-large spot (which would be a travesty).
To do that they would have to artificially rank them higher, which is a possibility.

We need to start screaming from the rooftops that strength of schedule trumps wins/losses. We have dropped a couple but also have THE most impressive resume of any team in the top 10. The big 2 needs to be kicked down a notch as punishment for such weak schedules. How many ranked opponents has Indiana played? How about the bucks? Bama should be ranked ahead of all those bums.
