Is YouTube celebrity Shaquille Johnson the best high school dunker in Georgia history? That’s what we want to know.

One popular YouTube video makes the claim that Johnson is the best in high school basketball. And they are talking about the USA, not just Georgia.

The 6-foot-4 senior at Milton High School is a rock star when it comes to dunking the basketball. Johnson committed to Auburn.

I've always thought this kid was the perferct Ex-CMG recruit. Sorry, I couldn't resist. He can jump out of the gym, but his dribbling and shooting are pretty much non-existent. Hopefully they remain that way over the next four years. The barn is putting togther a solid recruiting class for 2012. They have a stud in Jordan Price commited. He's lit up every camp and tournament he's attended this summer. Has a complete game on the wing.

How can you say he looks "pretty good"? He can dunk and that's about it. He might want to take his talents to the AND1 tour and play with those guys.

Well, I can basically say whatever I want on this subject matter as long as it doesn't involve profanity. I have my opinion and we can agree to disagree. Good grief.

My point is dunks aren't what makes a great basketball player. If so, Hillman and Mitchell would have been first round picks this past draft. It takes more than that. His video mainly consisted of dunks. Yes, there were some jump shots, but the video was 90% dunks. Where is the footage of his defense? Can he play defense for 40 minutes? What about consistent dribbling?

And I'm aware you can say whatever you want.

I respect your opinion and this is my last reply on this. Who shows defense on a basketball highlight video? That would be like showing Mark Ingram's blocking ability on a highlight film.

I agree, dunks and dunks alone do not make a basketball player. But, the highlight video does show that the young man has some offensive skills and one's jumping ability does correlate to aptitude to basketball ability. Defensively, I want a guy who can jump out of the gym, block shots, play team defense, and hustle. It looks like he can dribble adequately to get around defenders and his jumper, albeit not many clips, looks o.k.

If this young man ends up being a caliber of Mitchell or Hillman, we should try to sign him ASAP.

From most reports his outside game has been improving and he is working pretty hard on it. If he is coachable then Auburn may have found a player that was overlooked by many
