News Article: Shots fired at congressional softball game.

fyi, there was a theater company from minnesota that did the same during the obama years with a black actor playing caesar

here is a review of the play from the american conservative

So Timmy did it too?

That doesn't make it right. The office, regardless of who holds it, should be respected. As a nation, we've grown numb to it and therein lies the problem.

it doesn't matter if timmy did it, it's shakespeare. this has zero to do with the play in new york no matter how many panties were instructed to be wadded up in the last two days.

as dub said in the previous page

It's quite common to stage it with a contemporary theme as was done with both Obama and Bush.

I'm not saying this is a Trump, Obama or even Bush thing.

When an entire nation is desensitized in this manner, nut jobs with guns occasionally go on rampages thinking they are patriots.

and im saying that contemporary interpretations of shakespeare aren't what is doing the desensitizing. i agree though, there is a lot of desensitizing of gun violence and also of the notion of patriots taking their country back through violent means.

FIFY, "Unknown".

(Won't mention what their political inclinations usually are..................going back as far as Booth, Oswald, etc.)

The example I provided was in response to another poster who claimed he hadn't seen anything of a certain nature with Trump. One of many currently, I could have used Kathy Griffin's disrespectful photo shoot to substantiate my point instead but just used that specific example due to it being a WaPo link.

To specifically clarify, the "all too clear" message being general acceptance of extreme violence against a sitting POTUS is the point regardless of the media used to convey the message.

For a moment that I thought the Bundes Nachtrichts Dienst had a commercial web site.

Cut out that high brow crap and get down on a 3rd grade level like the rest of us!

BND-Bundes Nachrichten Dienst. BND stands for ‘Bundes Nachrichten Dienst’ in German and its English translation means, ‘Federal Information Service’. It is the foreign intelligence agency of Germany. BND comes under and is a part of the ‘Federal Chancellor's Office’.

So this shooter was a Bernie Sander's campaign volunteer.

Uncle Bernie has already make a very strong condemnation of the action. Good for him (sincerely).

This quote from the dude's neighbor struck me as a microcosm of the entire country.

"I didn’t really talk to him too much. He was a Democrat and I was a Republican so we didn’t have too much to talk about."

It's sad that people allow politics to influence the way they interact with each other like that.

As for the lack of civility, when you federalize every issue, every issue becomes a federal issue. The stakes get escalated and the escalation of means follows inexorably.

If the general government restricted its policies to those enumerated in Article I, Section 8, then men like the shooter would be much more concerned with what his government in Springfield is doing than what the one in Washington is, because the one in Washington would have relatively little to do with his daily life.
If Illinois had a cradle-to-grave social safety net and Wisconsin had no social safety net at all, it would not be any skin off his nose.
Instead, we centralize every single issue and the room for compromise is eliminated. Those who want cradle-to-grave social safety net are forced to live with those who don't and one or the other is going to be very disappointed.

Thank you for correcting my German grammar. It has been quite a while since Mr. Gustafson's German class at Huntsville High School. (Yeah, I apologize. I'm a product of the Alabama public school system).

I mean, look at what happened when Gabby Giffords tweeted a sympathetic message this morning:

Gabby Giffords said:
My heart is with my former colleagues, their families & staff, and the US Capitol Police- public servants and heroes today and every day.

The response proves that the internet is a cesspool.

@GabbyGiffords BS, you probably staged this for another gun-grab attempt. Sorry, TRAITOR, it's NOT going to work.

@GabbyGiffords @CR People like you enable this by trying to ban legal firearms go F yourself

@GabbyGiffords @NancyPelosi To bad it was not her

@GabbyGiffords @rosannascotto Here we go with the anti #2A crap again.
