Well, I guess this shows us how much we really know. The family may not even be leaving Alabama.

Reconnecting with Locksley makes perfect sense, and I hope it's a massive success for him and Lia. Living in Albuquerque, though, I remember what a total disaster Locks was out here (though in fairness, Saban himself probably couldn't turn the UNM program around). Hopefully he learned enough from his time at Saban's Home for Wayward Coaches to avoid his earlier mistakes.

Run that RPO, Lia!

Au contraire, man (of the cloth), we knew with great prescience that one QB from Alabama would replace another QB from Alabama for the Terps - yes, Lia in, Ty Pigrome (Clay-Chalkville HS and near-conqueror of tOSU but for an underthrown 2-pt conversion try pass that saw the pre-Locks Terps lose 52-51) out. Pigrome said last evening he's headed to Western Ky. as a grad transfer.

Given that he is transferring AWAY from Bama, we can petty much guarantee it will be approved.
I kind of hope it is, frankly. He shouldn't have lost his redshirt year this past year.

Locksley had Maryland putting up huge numbers the first few games last year. I'm not sure why they tailed off over the second half of the year, except that maybe the competition improved.

Good for Lia. I look at it this way. He's not in the SEC or a top 20 program shadow so he won't be as openly or frequently compared to Tua. If he doesn't get the waiver (probably will) he has a year to develop under Lox. He has the talent and potential to improve the Terps program.

As far as the family/culture dynamic I really don't know what the story is. Most of us don't. Time will tell if they're good with the distance and separation but I wish them well with the opportunity.

Yes, good for Taulia. Shows what we know!

Sitting on the bench with a chance to win a title is not for everybody, and I don't blame him. The young man wants to play football. I think he probably got some good advice from Saban.

I am surprised, too. Great offense, but not enough talent on that roster to win in the B1G. IMO, he should have transferred to a school with more talent. Look what the Sooners did for Jalen.
This may have more to do with his potential NFL career than competing for conference titles. Maryland will more than likely be behind A LOT meaning they will be passing A LOT.

A lot of people don't know it but there are MANY professional athletes who win titles who don't hold their championship ring with much value, because they were backups. Many sell their rings. If you're mostly sitting on the sidelines watching, it's hard to feel the ownership or the emotional attachment to the title as the players who played.

I will always be grateful to Coach Locks for holding down the "rebellion" among the WR's when Tua was not starting. He kept them focused and the result is well known...good article in al.com today about all of this...seems Taulia just wants a chance to compete...good for him.

I have no problem with it. People make decisions with different reasons in mind. I haven't met a competitor yet who enjoys watching from the bench. Regardless of why he's on the bench.

In the article Galu says that he wanted Taulia to stay, but Taulia felt he had not been given a chance to beat out Mac. Says that they are staying in Alabaster to support their 2 daughters in school and their nephew Ti? who is a QB at Thompson.
So much for all the internet splatter about moving to Miami, etc.

Well, nobody’s had the chance to beat out Mac since there was no spring ball 🙄 but he had all last season to make a mark.

To me it sounds like Lia knew he would have a harder time beating out BY more so than Mac, so this was the perfect time to bounce

It's tough going from the best player on your team to sitting on the bench. The level of competition that goes from HS to any level of college competition is HUGE.

My personal experience was in basketball. I was always the best player on my basketball team, but didn't have the physical tools to play at the D-1 level. Walked on at an NAIA school and played one season.

I grew to HATE it. Not the game...but the WORK that resulted in very little playing time. I quickly learned riding the pine was not for me!

You telling me there's another QB in the pipeline???

His "window" was probably the bowl season practices. He had about a month to get some looks as #2 behind Mac.

But, IMO, his transfer is as much about BY as it probably is about Mac Jones. He's a 5 star that seems to be the heir apparent.
