Do I want him to play? Don't care. We will have to play them anyway if we want the BCS title. I have had a concussion and I really think it is too early.

IF he is legitimately cleared by medical staff to play, then there is no reason to not have your best player on the field against LSU.

If it is iffy in any way, shape, or form, then UF owes it to Tebow to keep him out of the game.

Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow progressing but won't practice Monday - ESPN

My opinion is that he should not be allowed to play. Although he may not be showing symptoms, he is still much more vulnerable to a repeat of the injury, and you know LSU's defense is not going to play flag football with UF's offense.
Of course it needs to be up to his doc and himself, but you know if he sticks his bell out there they are going to ring it. If I was his parents, I'd try to dissuade him. You know Urban is going to want him to play if he can.

Chavis will have one mission for his defense if Tebow plays.

That could either put Tebow out in terms of his career...or it could backfire and lead to a UF rout of the tigahs because of great game planning back the gators.

I doubt he plays though.

I am not a doctor. I just don't know enough to present an educated opinion.

I have heard that the doctors must clear a player, and that clearance must come no less than 14 days after all symptoms have cleared. I have heard and read that from at least 10 different sources - but none of them have been official sources, so are they even accurate? If not, this might be totally up to the team doctors, and then all bets are off.

If they are accurate, Tebow will not be allowed to play and all of this has just been an effort by Meyer to force LSU to prepare for Tebow...

Agreed. Whether it's Tim or Greg Mc, whoever it is, one good lick and you'll be reading about it on the news ticker on Fox News, CNN, ABC, etc. Ain't worth it. He might get by but he might not.....IMHO.

I understand as a competitor he is going to want to play. I understand as a Dr. if he has no ill effects you can clear him. I understand that Myers is going to play him if the Dr. is willing to take the responsibility of clearing him. Having said all that I don't think I would play him just yet. I've had a major concussion and it's effects are very prolonged and you never realize you're still in the daze until one day you are out of it and can clearly look back.

There are football reasons not to play him as well. LSU is not in their division so a loss wouldn't keep them out of the SECCG. We all know if you can get to the SECCG and win you should get into the BCSNCG no problem, so from that standpoint the loss isn't championsip run ending. Another thought is give him one more week to clear his head and keep LSU from having the chance to do some lasting damage.

I meant to include that point in my original post. Either way UM is not going to say until the last minute I would think. Can't blame him, we would do the same.

From what I've read, CUM would be going against guidelines set by the NCAA and their team of neurologists if he plays TT this soon after the concussion. I'm not the one with the say-so, but the person who has it really has a lap full of responsibility. IMO, it ain't worth the possibility of TT getting hurt again.

Like everyone else has said, I too am not a doctor. But I just don't see how he'll be truly able to play this soon. Yes, he may play, and he may get through the game without injury.

But it's a fast game and a hard hitting game. This isn't a bruised leg we're talking about. In my completely uneducated opinion, I'd sit him.

I think Florida is good enough to win the game without him...

I hope he's o.k. to play but I'm going to be very surprised if he gets medical clearance this soon after an injury as severe as his looked to be.

I think LSU will beat them regardless.

The thing I read last week is that a player should be symptom free for 7 days before being cleared to play...at press conference today Meyer said tebow's headaches are gone but that the doctors have not yet cleared him to play, and he will not practice today...

It wasn't clear whether all of tebow's symptoms were gone or just the headaches, I think that Meyer was intentionally vague so it isn't clear whether tebow was symptom free this past weekend and therefore would be clear to play next weekend.

Meyer usually says that players have to practice on Tuesday to be able to play on Saturday, but he did say last week that tebow is a player for which that would not be true, Tebow is one of the veterans who would not need to practice the week before to make sure he was game ready.

Meyer will try to string out the uncertainty all week like he did with harvin last year before the SECCG, he is of the Bellichick school, he will not willingly give LSU any certainty as to which QB will be out there at 800 PM on Saturday night...

In this case it probably does make a difference for LSU's DC, UF will not run the option nearly as much with Brantley as it would w/ Tebow

New Test Helps NFL Teams Detect Concussions - ABC News

"It's something you don't want to play with," said Rick Burkholder, head athletic trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles, which began using ImPACT late in the season. "If you sprain an ankle, it comes back. If you hurt your brain, it doesn't come back. This is serious stuff."
If he were my son, he would not play for at least 4 weeks (NFL minimum).
