Since they are enclosing the north endzone....

Do you think it would be a good idea to move the student section to the enclosed side of the stadium?

Kind of do a flip-flop with the student section and the visitors section on the North end...

I think it would be a good idea. That way that side would be a great advantage with 10,000 extra seats behind the students.

What ya' think?

No way. Keep the student section where it is. The sound project towards the "horseshoe" trapping the sound. The crowd noise from the visitor section goes over the South endzone and disapears.

Well sounds good.

I actually disagree with you on this, but purely for acoustical reasons.

You see, if the visitor section is facing the (by then) only open part of the stadium, then perhaps the sound of their cheers will partly escape the open section of the stadium, while the sound of the student section is reverberated to and fro.

I have no statistical data or factual research to back up this theory of mine, but it seems logical to me.

Give the visitors the same treatment that they give us.
Like Arkansas, give them section n-8 and the rest in upper 4 on east side.
Miss state, given then half of N-8 and the rest in upper 4.
We are the only school with an upper deck that does not sit half the visitor's in the upper section.
Heck at Georgia, they built an upper section on top of their upper deck just for the visitors.

kfo, I sat there last year, and we could just about see downtown Atlanta from there. We were ducking when planes would fly over!

Why not just spread the visitor fans around the upperdecks? Seems to me that would keep their fans somewhat quieter or at least give that perception.

A couple of notes...

Doubtful that the students will be moved to the south end. Moving the students in BDS requires changing a lot of fences (they keep the students fenced in, a practice I've never supported nor understood), plus they've got some wheelchair seating in the south end that would have to be relocated most likely.

The students have been complaining about it for some time, because they can't see the Jumbotron. The Jumbotron is difficult to see at a radical angle, and if you're right up under it, you've got the worst view of anyone in the stadium.

Finally, Alabama did start splitting up its visiting sections last year. More people went into the east upper deck, and a section got moved into the lower south end. One of the risks you run with visitors in the uppermost seats is that depending on the team (*cough*...*cough*...LSU, Ole Miss), its fans tend to like to bomb the home fans sitting under them with debris.
