What is everyone's take on Alabama and the bowl game they'll likely be heading too?

I've been reading the possible match ups and do wonder if this is a possibility/probability?

If I didn't have this place and tickets, I wouldn't post this. I'm just interested in what your thoughts are about the possibility of this happening.

Very likely that we play in the Cotton Bowl. If we are in the Capital One Bowl, it means that Auburn is in the BCSCG. I'll take the Cotton.

Scenarios:

* We beat Auburn and Auburn beats UCSe. Auburn plays in the Sugar or the BCSCG (they would not fall far in a loss on the road to Bama, and a win in the SECCG could vault them back over TCU and BSU, and back into the title game). So, that leaves two possibilities with this outcome:
** Auburn plays in the BCSCG, LSU in the Sugar, Bama in the Capital One
** Auburn plays in the Sugar, LSU in the Capital One, Bama in the Cotton

* We beat Auburn and Auburn loses to USCe - USCe plays in the Sugar and the Capital One chooses LSU - Bama plays in the Cotton. Aubie cries at the injustice.

* We lose to Auburn, Auburn wins the SECCG. Auburn plays in the BCSCG, LSU plays in the Sugar, Bama plays in the Capital One.

* We lose to Auburn, Auburn loses the SECCG. USCe plays in the Sugar, Auburn or LSU plays in the Capital one, Auburn or LSU plays in the Cotton, we play in the Chick-fil-A?

If LSU loses, we replace them in the pecking order with a victory over Auburn, but would still be behind them in the pecking order with a loss to Auburn. So, we do have a very small shot at the Sugar. Also, an LSU loss makes the Capital One Bowl a much stronger likelihood.

LSU just made the Capital One Bowl last year. I doubt they will take them again...even if is where they will naturally go in the pecking order. I think that the Capital One Bowl will be us (if we don't make the BCS) or possibly USC (if they lose to Auburn).

The SEC, pre bowl records:

Auburn - anywhere from 13-0 to 11-2
LSU - either 11-1 or 10-2 (play @ Arkansas)
Alabama - either 10-2 or 9-3
Arkansas - anywhere from 10-2 to 8-4 (have to play both MSU & LSU)
USCe - either 10-3 or 9-4 (don't see them losing @ Clemson)
MSU - either 9-3 or 8-4
Florida - 9-3 or 8-4 (play FSU)

I am confused. Is there any rule that says that the winner of the SEC automatically goes to a BCS game, or can any SEC team go to a BCS game. What would prevent the following scenario?

The Barn looses to us and USCe--Goes to capital 1 bowl
Bama wins out--cotton bowl
USCe--wins out--chick-fil-A bowl
LSU--wins out-- Sugar

If the barn looses both games and LSwho wins all of theirs, then LSU would have the best record in the SEC and will also have the highest BCS rating.

Yes - the winner of the SECCG is an automatic qualifier. If USCe wins, they play in the Sugar Bowl, even if they lose their next two games before the SECCG and have a record of 8-5.

Yuck. As much as I hate the Barn, an 8-5 SEC school in the BCS is as embarrassing as whomever the Big East puts in there.

I'm really hoping for the Cotton as it works out better date wise for me. Not exactly sure why it is a full week later than most other bowls, but no matter when or where it is, I will be there! I have been wanting to get a look at Jerry'sWorld, thought I was going to have to wait until the Michigan game. I just got back from Orlando, and it was fun, wouldn't mind going back for the Capital One bowl, although thanks to work it will be a shorter/more expensive trip (flying vs driving to save time)

Whomever wins the SEC Championship will of course draw an automatic BCS bowl. Secondly, a one-loss SEC Team (Auburn or LSU) will be a lock for at-large birth, with a two-loss being somewhat likely to draw an at-large.

How will this work? We beat the barn and LSU get's beat by Arkansas and that gives us, LSU and Ark two losses each. Knowing how Bama/LSU travels, does anyone think Ark would be selected over us to say the Fiesta Bowl? Only variable is if USC beats the barn then they automatically go and Auburn will likely p/u an at-large bid. Otherwise, it'll be a two loss SEC team versus one loss Big-10 (Ohio State, MSU, Wisconsin), a one loss Pac-10 (Stanford) and undefeated TCU and Boise St. fighting for the 3 remaining at large bids.

With the Rose Bowl contractually obligated to make a Big-10/Pac-10 challenge Stanford and one of the Big-10 winner will play, assuming Oregon wins out.

Here's ESPN's take:

Yikes, I certainly never even thought of Alabama as a possibility in the Fiesta. I just cancelled my Glendale reservations for the BCS game. That was heartbreaking!
