I appreciate your post Bamamc1-I think you really have to think about what other programs have done over the past 10-15 years to build strong programs ( not even counting adding 2 powers this year). I firmly stand on the side of Murph being able to decide when to step aside. Maybe there can be a succession plan with Braud?? In 3 years- Murph gets his 30 and Kayla gets more seasoned coaching.
To your post, I think about what KY hoops fans must think with the buildup of so many SEC programs- it used to be maybe a tenn or LSU or Bama might have a big year but now there are at least 8-10 programs with legitimate championship expectations
The problem is that Murphy has been coaching in the same time frame as Patty Gasso, Tim Walton, and Mike White. All 3 have altered their approach and built teams with a real chance to win a championship year in and year out. Murph has not adjusted and we have been on a slide for about 10 years in which we were waiting for a mediocre pitching stable before the dam finally broke.

I think it’s less about competition catching up and more allowing it to catch up. Like I said… Gasso, Walton, and White have been at this for the same amount of time as Murphy and haven’t seen as big of a drop off as Alabama has.

I grew up around softball, with my mom playing. This sport is a little closer to home for me. I played baseball, so I follow the baseball program about equally to softball. I'm not a basketball guy, so these two have always been a little higher on the totem pole for me.

Seeing the drop off in softball is disheartening. Knowing of the "stuff" that probably caused this over the years is also disheartening.

I'd be very excited to see a better product put on the field, we've been surpassed by many many programs now. Feels like every year we're falling just a little further behind.

I mean, look at where we are just in the SEC now. We are behind Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss.

We aren't even in the top half of the conference anymore.

On a tangent....I do wish ESPN's website had more on college baseball and softball other than just lumping into "College Sports" along with hockey, fencing, lacrosse etc.
12th in the conference when we should be top 3-5 in the country. Murphy makes it to the World Series and thinks we have had a successful season. We have been 15 times and only won 1. We should have won 4 or 5 more. But again you have to give he credit for building the program. He has helped build the travel ball and High School teams by building the Bama program.

we should atleast have 1 more than what we have had… maybe 2. My problem is that we never even got to a Finals with Osorio and Montana. Idk if we could’ve beaten Oklahoma with that lineup but the 21 team should’ve beaten FSU atleast once and advanced.

Valid comparison to the Braves run of 14 straight playoffs and only one WS championship. While Murph is undoubtedly a legend and deserves every single accolade for building the program, those folks who can win more than one are on a different level. I may be dreaming but I'd LOVE for Murph to win another, say in his 30th year (or earlier :)and retire on top. But, the recent trend is concerning. I'll admit I don't know how difficult it is to find a dominant pitcher like Van Brakle, J Train, Osorio, Fouts, even The Beav- but we really need one. I think the bats are coming around but all our staff are probably #2/#3 in a top team's rotation. Still, Briski is young- hope she sticks around the next two years.

i think the 2008 team is the best we’ve ever. We missed winning that one. We should have won 1 or 2 with McClenny and 1or 2 with Fouts. Gasso took Sabans floor plan and look what she’s done. Murphy had the blueprints 1 mile down the road and didn’t follow it . But oh well long live live madita!

BAMA drops game one to Georgia 4-3. Didn't see it all, but Georgia took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 7th. We scored 1 run on 2 errors by Georgia. (dropped pop up by second baseman, bad throw by SS that pulled 1st base off the bag). Overall, BAMA had 7 hits, but also had 3 errors.

Looking good here on Sunday with the 6-4 lead-after a 5 run third inning. Bats are hot today and an error by UGA helped. I’ll say this- I was frustrated for years with Murph not really using a full “staff” of pitchers and he has adapted in that area. With Briski not YET a true Ace, we are seeing a lot of folks in the circle seemingly every game. Whatever works!!!!

Keeps the streak (the good kind!) that UGa has never won a series in Titletown. Certainly not going to be favored in the next 3 series- LSU OU and FLA but would love to us steal one series at least.

14 hits today by BAMA, so maybe we're finding something. I'm still a little reserved on this as this is not one of Georgia's better teams. But we need to win this series, especially since the next three are at LSU, Oklahoma at home, and at Florida. Hopefully we have found something that will keep us competitive. Roll Tide.

Well, not a good start to the LSU series as LSU takes the first game with an 8-0 run rule victory. We managed 4 hits and no runs in five innings. LSU is a top tier program right now and I hope this was just a bad day and won't be the norm when we play a top team. Let's see what happens tomorrow.
