Softball 2026-expectations?

BTW, they hit 60 all of last year. I’m sure someone will “as he said about Dabo for football” will fly in here and dog Murphy once again.

Alabama hit 18 home runs this weekend over 5 games. I think the slap hitting days are over. Hell, there was a freshman that hit 4 this weekend. Bama’s #1 pitcher was limited to a couple of innings. Freshman and one other was in the circle. Keep on complaining.
Note that I'm complaining about the past, not the present.

As I stated, we're off to a good start. We've done that for several years now, but have faded badly in the conference. After seeing that happen consistently for some time, I need to see proof that there's really a change.

I watched both Georgia Tech games. I was encouraged with the power I saw. Not just HRs but also doubles and triples. As others have pointed out, we'll have to wait and see what we do when we play stiffer competition. I think we play Purdue twice, Liberty twice and Ga Southern once this weekend. Have no idea how good they are but FSU should be a test in a couple weekends.

So far so good this weekend. Not hitting as many homers but still scoring runs and the pitching has been great. It seems like the new starters like Moten, Young, Wells, and Roman have been great additions. Liberty is supposed to be better competition than last weekend's opponents but they are off to a slow start.

With the dominant game against FSU (#6 in the country going in) my “show me” position is beginning to change.

We’ve seen hot starts against soft competition for several years, only to fade badly in the meat of the schedule.

Curb-stomping the #6 team in their house certainly goes against that recent history.

We play FSU again today or tomorrow (not sure which). If we play well against a good team looking to avenge an embarrassment at home — not necessarily beat them, though that would be nice — it’ll be another reason to believe.

12-0! 6 innings of shutout ball again before Briski finally gave up a dinger in the bottom of the 7th. Final score 5-1.

Ok….5-1 win in Game 2, in #6 FSU’s house.

13-1 in two games (8-0 shutout and 5-1 in another solid win).

Almost had a second shutout….FSU was down to their last out in the bottom of the 7th when they hit a solo home run.

Damaged only the stats, as the next batter hit a shallow fly for the final out.

Despite my earlier position of “show me this isn’t a repeat of the last few years,” I have to say I’m impressed.

This one’s even a little sweeter because I still remember how obnoxious the FSU team was in the WCWS a few years ago.
