Don't be surprised to see twenty freshman see significant playing time next year. As the old saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink!
It would be a waste of eligibility to play all of CNS recruits next Saturday but I hope he cleans house this week. A loss to AU is a loss regardless of the score.

i keep hearing about the talent gap. although i don't think shula left the team stocked with great players, weren't his last two classes in the top 25 or thereabouts? also, didn't his staff find hidden guys like gilberry and arenas?

and as for the talent gap argument regarding this game, according to rivals, ulm had the #108 recruiting class last year.

again, shula was clearly nothing compared to saban in recruiting, but i think he certainly left more than enough talent to overcome the mighty warhawks.

although the defense was far from great, it gave the offense two short field opportunities to tie the game (one from the 27). and the offense completely failed to capitalize.

to be quite honest, tonight we looked pretty much exactly like we did last year.

some have suggested that saban doesn't care too much about the record this season and that he just wants to lay a foundation and separate the wheat from the chaffe. that may well be the case, and i have little doubt that he inherited a very disfunctional team. that being said, however, today was a total flop.

I believe that this team, despite the coaches' efforts, just doesn't have it mentally and I also think that losing the LSU had something to do with it. Because of the media attention on the game, the players got up for the game, lost, and just seemed to essentially not care. I know we had heard about the "heated locker room" last weekend but it obviously didn't work, which might've been because of the opponent.

These guys just don't know that they have to play hard and go all out no matter who they are playing, they don't have that mentality and it's also something that can only be developed. Maybe the whole competition style that Coach Saban uses in practice when he gets the first batch of his actual recruits in next year will change that.

I'm closing this thread in order to save some of your posting privileges. But, one final remark - nobody owes you any explanation at all...
