Soon to be Hurricane Dennis

Not looking real good right now for the Gulf Coast....

Still looking to run a bit east of us in Gulf Shores, however, with some of the patterns forming over the Gulf this evening and tomorrow, there could remain a hard west turn.

Dennis...

Dennis has not scared my brother out of Mobile. I talked to him today and he was moving paperwork away from windows and had plans to stay in his 3rd floor office at the law firm downtown. I think he is crazy but he is staying.

Good luck Bro and everybody who gets any weather from this storm.

Sun's starting to play hide & seek here in Ocean Springs, MS. We're as prepared as we can be considering we're still unpacking from the move. Hubby's downstairs right now sealing up the garage. We should be fine as long as the eye stays at least 20 miles or so east of us, but if it comes any closer we're in for one heck of a storm surge and will definitely have the ocean in our garage. The price to be paid for living in paradise. :cool2:

The last projection that I saw looks like it will come in somewhere in the Gulf Shores/Pensacola area. You should be OK based on that, Savannah, especially since you would be on the western side of the storm.

Yep, that's what we're thinking. Having grown up in FL, I know how they can shift as they get in close to shore, and it's still too far out to feel safe in what the computer models tell us. Pretty much any of us from Gulfport to Panama City are fair game at this point. Lord knows all we can do now is pray for it not to strengthen and for Him to grant us the strength to get through it no matter what.

Everyone please be safe; even y'all that are inland...the flooding and tornados can be very dangerous. We were in NC when Floyd came through in 1999. We were on the coast (Camp Lejeune) and didn't have any flooding after the surge dissipated, but just a few miles inland people were in a horrible mess for days afterward.

Yes, we in the Birmingham area took a pretty good pummelling from Ivan last September. There are no generators to be had in the area, and the grocery stores have been packed as if this were a snow storm coming.
