Shauna Moffitt, 26, e-mailed to The Tampa Tribune copies of six assignments she said she wrote for her husband between Jan. 17, 2007, and Oct. 10, 2007. She said she wrote all of the assignments on her computer at the Sumter County appraiser's office, where she is a data specialist.

How do you use scholarship money to make mortgage payments?

I can't see where USF had a hand in this. It was the guys wife that wrote the papers. It wasn't as if they had paid someone or had some other student writing the paper. I know that when I was working a full and part time job while going to school full time, I had my girlfriend at the time write a couple of papers for me. I gave her specific points that I wanted expressed in the papers and she wrote them. I had little time to write with all the other things I had going on. Especially with my slow typing skills.

Unless USF somehow knew about the paper-writing or whatever, I don't see how they would be in the wrong at all. Seems like this would just come down on the player's head, not the university's.

Probably two sources, Pell Grant as stated above by bayoutider, and from the housing allowance the Athletic Department can pay student athletes living off campus. I'm not sure how much the housing allowance is these days but it used to be based on the average cost of off campus student housing. Of course, that was something like 15 years ago....

Wife works and does college assignments while husband plays college football. As college career nears end and pros potentially beckon, husband leaves wife/family. I smell a made for TV movie in there somewhere. She should get an agent.

This story is a flash in the pan and will never get any legs. I"m not saying it is morally right to have someone else do college work for you, but it happens all the time and is next to impossible to police.

That's cheating. If I had a student do that I would give them a zero and refer them to the higher ups. One can get in big trouble for cheating like that.
