Spring football awards

In my mind is just to give the players an extra incentive to work hard and get their minds on something other than girls, spring break and partys.

As for the fans, media, and anyone else concerned the only awards that should matter or amount to any debate is decided this fall, not spring. Championships, Bowls, rankings, rivalries ect, are what are important to most of us. Come this fall nobody will care about an award, much less the name of it, given out in the spring. Admit it! Not that important really.

At least coach Croom had an award named after him for what 17 years? Not bad if you ask me. About time to acknowledge someone else for that matter. Why not change some more names in the future? There's been so many great players at Bama who have not had the honor, so change it up and spread it around some.

I bet we all could come up with a few worthy players names for awards. How about it?

Not a football player, but Antwione Pettway deserves some kind of award named after. How about "The Antwione Pettway Biggest Heart Award"?

Excellent post....how about names added to the awards. Much like how the team captains are treated, except with even a higher standard tahn adding a name yearly.

IOW, this excellence award can still be honored with Croom's name, but also someone else's.

I think the Lane Bearden "Balls As Big As Church Bells" award should be a yearly honor for a deserving Bama athelete.

Thats a goody! Could also name it the Lane Bearden, "I'll kick your tail with one leg tied behind my back" award. LOL!!!!!!
