Spring Practice Thread/News/Predictions

There is another scrimmage Saturday and I think more people will be there. So hopefully we'll get more information this time

Amazingly there is less information getting out now than when Saban was in charge. While you can find anybody and everybody doing interviews they never say anything we didn't already know. Stephen M Smith from Touchdown magazine made a few claims on youtube. He said Jeremiah Alexander and Keanu Koht were having spectacular spring. He like others was high on Red Morgan and Payton Woodyard. He said it looked like Emmanual Henderson was finally healthy and adjusted to the WR position and was productive. He as others have said that the freshman running back Daniel Hill was an absolute beast and nobody could tackle him in short yardage. Hopefully some additional observers will be allowed in scrimmage #2

REALLY like hearing that about Hill.

I really hope Emmanuel Henderson contributes this year.

Wish I had some observations but, unfortunately, all I have are a couple predictions.
1. The QB controversy will get some added fuel from A-day.
2. UA will honor their national championship men's basketball team at halftime.

I agree that everyone is overreacting to the Milroe to Prentice throw. We don't know what happened...could be he ran the wrong route. All we really know is that it was a very nice catch of a ball that wasn't on target.

I think prediction 1 is definitely true.

I seriously hope prediction 2 is correct. That would be an amazing achievement by this team and CNO. Imagine the college sports world reaction if that happens after the Saban retirement 🤣

It would be an overreaction if it were ONE play, but it’s just more of the same with him. He’s in year 4 for crying out loud…
We have no clue where that pass was supposed to go. For starters, the video was not good. You can't see much. But you could see Prentice reach up with one hand and catch it. And that was my whole point of posting it. For all we know he overran the pass. Maybe the pass went where it was supposed to go. We just don't know. It was practice, so anything was possible. And you and a few others were happy as a lark to turn it into another "Milroe bad" post.

On Thursday, DeBoer said Milroe displayed his ability to run, take deep shots and generate first downs in BDS. After the first three scrmmages, CKD said, “Jalen Milroe has been super consistent. You know, he’s done a good job of just playing ball. He’s got that dual skill set, being able to run and throw. And now that we have enough things in where he can utilize all of that, you can see even the play-calling working around what he brings to the table. He’s tough to handle. He’s just so extremely fast. You think you have it bottled up and he just runs right around you. So he’s done a really good job. I think he’s getting more and more comfortable with the offense every day."

We know the pass was not supposed to be 4 feet behind the receiver. My God…

Prentice jumped straight up, twisted and grabbed the ball with one hand. Here a still of it. Certainly was not a short pass. Watch it again. Jumps up, reaches around and grabs with one hand.

It was indeed a short pass. Great adjustment for the catch. Glad no defender was there to drill a shoulder into his chest.

Yes, we can agree it's a wonderful catch.

Those types of throws from any QB though will get their WRs injured.

On the vertical plane that pass should be between the middle of the numbers and the bottom of the facemask, so with him reaching as far as he could and jumping, that pass is several feet from where it should be vertically.

On the horizontal plane, that pass needs to lead the receiver to where he runs through the catch full speed and still catches the ball in front. He slowed down to make the catch and then it was still somewhat behind him, so on the horizontal plane, the pass was way, way off from where it should be, even moreso than vertically.

Net, quite a bad pass, WR bailed him out big time. A vast majority of the time that pass gets popped up into the air and is likely intercepted.

I’m surprised more information hasn’t really come out.

CKD seems to run almost a tight a ship as CNS wrt to keeping a lid on things.

When we were under CMS we all might as well have been at every practice.

It was definitely a bad pass. He did have Lawson in his face and threw off his back foot because of Lawson's presence. But still a bad pass. It would have been a sack in a real game.
