Spring Practice Thread/News/Predictions

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

"He is picking up the defense really well, and it's very impressive. He reminds me of Caleb Downs. They have different playing styles. But for a young guy who's come in, dissected the defense, and looks the part when he's out there...Red reminds me of Downs." —
Kobe Prentice on Red Morgan.

At the moment he's our starting left tackle and likely a better starter there than proctor assuming he has progressed.

I think some of the roles on the OL are about as clear as mud. While EP is taking all the reps at LT, he was beat out by Proctor last season, plus we have statements that they've been giving Booker reps at LT also, which makes me think it's not quite settled with EP yet. I will say that I thought EP looked a bit better to me than proctor last year in pass pro, so he might have an edge in the new offense. I think both OT spots are up for grabs and it could be a 4 horse race with Formby, Booker, EP and Proctor. 2 will grab OT spots, and the third on the list will settle back to the OG spot Booker had last season and if EP is on the outside, he might look elsewhere...

Maybe this new format will give all of the QBs a chance to play with the 1s, going against the 1s on defense rather than being relegated to playing with the 2s and 3s against 2s and 3s which doesn't really tell us anything.
There won't be a separate team of 1s and 2s on defense or offense. Gonna be mixed with a lot of rotating players in and out. It's different from what we're used to on A-Day.

Yea, but that was inevitable given the coaching change. I am looking forward to seeing this offense in T-Town and how well it is executed. Same's true for the D. 15 practices is not much but we really have an outstanding team of young talent at the Capstone.

I have to admit that in previous years the A-Day stuff has been really confusing to me as a viewer...so many things going on at once.

Thankfully the kids minds move a lot faster than mine does at this point.

I think booker reps at tackle have been a result of us being razor thin at the position position right now, not anything to do with EP especially with mcvay being banged up a little bit.

I would still bet on ep at Left, with proctor or formby at right and the other being a heavily used backup at both sides.

I think offense versus defense is also because of depth issues because oline we have 12 players and one is injured, one banged up and proctor is not here yet, I believe next year CKD will probably go like in past crimson- white game

Maybe. But I think that's how DeBoer has done it other places. At least at Washington I think.

When would the 2s play on defense...?🤔
