Start-up business...

I have a product idea that I, and several people I have talked to about it, think is possibly a very good idea. Is there anyone here who can give me some tips about this? Either as a start-up business or as marketing the idea alone?

I am assuming it is a product. Make yourself a snazzy ad and sling it up on eBay to test the waters. If you are going to require distributors, a small way to start would be with local mom & pop shops to carry your product.

You can also look at cross marketing, where you offer your product and a coupon to another local business to generate interest.

The above is more of a "grass roots" approach, but doing so help my wife and I start a nice little side business of our own that still generates sales five years later.
