Our defensive problems don't go away when playing Clemson compared to Florida. They just change.
Having more than five days to prepare for a dynamic offense will help. I'd not be surprised to see Clempson score a bunch, but Bama will stop them enough and will score more.

Same with OSU, should it come to that.

Our defensive problems don't go away when playing Clemson compared to Florida. They just change. Running quarterbacks HAVE ALWAYS given our defense fits, even when we had dominant defenses. Lawrence is a freak of nature physical talent at QB. Having to deal with will stress our defense and create mismatches. I doubt we stop them many times. The key to any Clemson/Bama game will be can Sark win the defensive battle against Venebles. We can't have too many punts and expect to win. We will have to score at will to stay in the game. I fully expect Golding to get taken to school again and them put 40 points on the board. If Venebles wins the battle against Sark, we will have a repeat blow out of 2018. Because Golding ain't stopping Lawrence and Etienne.
I haven't watched Clemson much this season but my gut feeling is that you are 100% correct.

No defense in the country is stopping Bama on offense. Maybe a punt or two, but there's a reason this team s has scored 35+ in 24 straight games and 50+ in four of the last five games.

Bama will roll.

One of Alabama's linebackers (won't mention name) seemed unable to cover the Florida RB leaking out of the backfield. This led to two key PI penalties and could have resulted in 2 long touchdowns. There is a little good news if UA plays Clemson. Etienne doesn't get much involved in the passing game. In the last 3 games, he has 7 receptions for 33 yards. That doesn't mean he can't catch the ball (he was 7/140 against BC and 8/57 in their loss to ND) but he is mainly used as a rusher, not a pass catcher.

Good, because I cancelled our reservation at Crow's Diner and feel pretty comfortable that I won't be calling back to reschedule. We better score 55+ and I'm not joking.

I don't think it will come to that. I think we can hold any offense remaining in the 30s. I don't expect Notre Dame to get into the 20s. Maybe 24 at most.

I don't think any remaining defense can hold us out of the 40s, and probably not even the 50s.

Here’s hoping that we decide to pressure Sunshine and let the secondary have a feast or a famine. I would rather trade chunk plays with TO’s and TFL all day.

Clemson is going to give us problems. But we won't have 2 true freshman often covering their best 2 playmakers like we did against Florida.

He played as well as anyone could have yesterday. But he didn't play nearly as well when he was missing Pitts. Maybe you are right - I actually hope that you are right - but NFL scouts don't think that he is even in Trevor's league.
When Florida play LSU, in addition to the obvious lack of preparation, Florida did not have Pitts, so LSU doubled Toney and went with the heavy rush package. The rush in that game definitely thru Trask off. I thought we would have done something similar but, for the most part, we let Trask sit back an throw. I think we got the very best shot Trask could give us and we still prevailed in the end. I hope we set up better defensive plans for the playoffs.

The potential for Sark taking a job in the middle of all of this is the one thing that has me concerned about the scoring. I read that he was to interview with Auburn yesterday. I can't see where they'd be keen on him juggling, but hopefully that would be a condition of acceptance. I hope that report was wrong.

That would mean Golding is going to have to improve his game. If Trask would have been more of a runner they could have QB run us all the way down the field all game Saturday. It was what Saban continued to get in the ear of Golding about. Anytime they would come to the line and there was only six in the box, they would run the QB between the tackles. Yet we've got a DC who seems to be unable to make adjustments real time and one certain LB who honestly I have no idea if has any clue what is actually taking place on the field. That's not even counting the too many times we had secondary players just fall down without any contact. Just trip over air and fall down, or lose their balance on the slightest juke move leaving wide open receivers down field.

I have no doubt Clemson will see this on film and will test this early on to see if we've made any adjustments. Especially seeing their QB's talents plays more into doing this than Florida's. Trust me, I would LOVE TO call Crow's Diner back and get the reservation back. But I have my doubts I'll have to do that. Bama's offense better be ON and I mean ON because Venebles may only need one or two punts out of our offense to win it.

Early assessemnt= It will take 50+ by Bama's offense and Mac, N Harris and D Smith having a repeat performance of the LSU game to make up for what will more than likely happen to Golding.

I’m watching the game right now and in the 2nd quarter we did bring pressure quite a bit and it generally worked.
Thinking back on it, it was the 3rd quarter offensive hiccups that changed things, and that stupid "no fumble" the refs gifted Florida.

The defensive issues are still present in this scenario, but we really don't know about them if it played out that way. Just one TD in the 3rd quarter and that fumble call being correctly diagnosed and the result is likely much much different. Ifs and buts and all that, but I'm not at all ready to panic about lesser offenses. Which I think Clemson is and Notre Dame definitely is.

I thought his Barn interview was during the third quarter of the game Saturday.

Sark is out of leading for the job.

I think what happened Saturday night was a result of talented players... they burned us bad. Our inexperience showed up. Safeties didn't do much to help on their part covering, cbs was okay... I think Moore was one who got burned several times. Defense wasn't bad but we just was exposed. I think we'll play better against ND.

The difference between 2018 and this year is I think we are a little better (and I mean a “little”) in the secondary and Mac seems not to take risks like Tua did (i.e. pick-6 on opening drive). It may very well be a repeat of 2015 minus Deshun Watson. We are gonna have to score every possession and try to eat up clock

That linebacker has been playing soft and has been in the try not to get hurt mode all season long.
