El Camino CC cornerback Mike Harris has committed to Alabama per sources close to the junior college star. The 6-0, 180-pound Harris, who is making his official visit to Alabama this weekend, is considered one of the nation’s top junior college defensive backs. Harris chose Alabama over Arizona, Florida, FSU, LSU, Miami, Michigan and others. More later.

Big, big pickup and this makes me feel a whole lot better about next year's secondary with the losses of Johnson, Arenas, and possibly Jackson. We have talent there, but this brings talent and experience to the fold.

Welcome aboard, Mr. Harris!

Great news. I was impressed with his video on Rivals. He looks like a very flouid athlete, and obviously he's got a great offer list (Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan among others).

Sounds like a good one, and it'll be huge if he can graduate in December.

TI is reputable, so don't down them.

Bamamag, TI, and Tidesports all had articles with this commitment today and have since retracted them.

I think the cat was let out of the bag prematurely.

Bottom line is he told Rodney Orr TWICE he was committed and it was okay to announce it. He now says he is waiting to announce. It is open for speculation why he did that but I would say it safe to say Mike jumped the gun and we aren't quite ready for his commitment yet. Probably waiting on final word on a CB from South Carolina...

I have to admit one of my first reactions to this was what it possibly means for the other prospects. I had seen where guys had said we only take him if we don't get some one else.

1. What you said in regards to waiting on Fulton
2. Waiting on CNS for the all-clear to go public
3. Waiting on Thompkins, his teammate, to decide, so they can announce together.
4. Or, just to have his own announcement with family around him when he gets back.

Regardless, I think we have him.

As I've been saying since this Spring, he'll be in Crimson as long as we have a spot for him. All other schools on his list would pretty much be what he settled for. He wants badly to be at Bama though.

1. What you said in regards to waiting on Fulton
2. Waiting on CNS for the all-clear to go public
3. Waiting on Thompkins, his teammate, to decide, so they can announce together.
4. Or, just to have his own announcement with family around him when he gets back.

Regardless, I think we have him.

I agree these are very real possibilities. I personally hope we make room for Harris and Fulton. And even though it seems unlikely I really hope we can get Thompkins as well.
