Interesting. My son and I were talking about whether Chaney would be a fall guy for this debacle. My point was similar to yours. Early in the game Chaney never tried to loosen up that stacked run defense with passes on the early downs. By the time they started, Fromm was so shell shocked from hits he had taken on third & long blitzes, he struggled with being remotely accurate.I disagree with the play calling, or maybe it was Fromms recognition. Texas came with a run blitz or 9-10 in the box on very first down, and they didn’t adjust until the 4th quarter,. Game over by then.
You may be a “run first team” but if the other guy is stacking it to stop you, you better find other answers quickly.
