I disagree. Seattle had more yards, first downs, and won TOP. Seattle was held to three and out twice. Pittsburgh was held to three and out four times.

If they make those two missed FGs, count the TD on that BS interference call, and take away the phantom TD by Rothlisberger, Seattle's up by 11. And you've got to figure Seattle gets at least three points (probably seven) when they catch the ball at the 1-2 yard line and have it brought back on the phantom holding call.

The refs totally took Seattle out of the game (and their gameplan). What a shame. I didn't have a dog in the fight as far as caring who won; but you hate to see the refs take a team out of a game.

The refs also made a horrible call early in the game when they called an incomplete pass on Seattle where the player clearly caught the ball, turned to run, and then fumbled when he was hit.

At the end of the day, though, the Steelers made the plays necessary to win the game. I don't think they outplayed the Seahawks; but were strong enough to take advantage of what the refs gave them and win the game. And that's all that counts.

I thought Holmgren did a horrendous job of clock management at the end of both halves.

Alexander had probably the quietest 95 yards of his career. No TD's for Mr. Touchdown in the Super Bowl. Oh well, maybe he'll get back to the Super Bowl again.

Again, I will repeat my last question to another poster--are you suggesting Seattle was doomed to lose and that the fix was in?

I am not saying that it was fixed. But, if the game had been called correctly, or at least close to correctly, Seattle would have won or would have had a much better chance to do so.

Nobody has mentioned the horse-collar non-call. I am not a big fan of the rule, but if you are going to make the rule you have to enforce it. Maybe I am the only one that saw Alexander get horse-collared by Porter.

Yes...

I feel the "fix" was in. I would not have finished watching it, the outcome was going to be so obvious. But, I had company, so there was no choice. It wouldn't have mattered what the SHs had done, it would have been called back...

I don't know anything about a fix. I am only stating what I saw. A game shouldn't be decided by referees. You can say all day long that Seattle didn't capitalize on key plays, but it was shown plainly on the replays that the penalty on the TD pass, and even more clearly on the pass to the 1 yrd line that the penalties were very questionable. When you take 2 sure scoring opportunities away from any team its going to make it hard to win. I saw Seattle play a better game and lose the football game.

Are you suggesting bad calls on big plays don't hurt the chance of a team winning the a game?

BTW, I'm not a Seahawks or a Steelers fan. I wish Shaun, DeShea and any other Bama alum that plays in the NFL the best of luck. I even like Cowher. I think he's good coach. I still believe Seattle got hosed on the calls, just like the Steelers got hosed on calls against the Colts.

Btw, I was pulling for Shaun and the Seahawks...

Seattle won the game plain and simple. I do not pull for them either, but if the refs call that game correctly Seattle wins by at least two touchdowns. But you have to give the Steelers credit for always finding a way to win. Reality is that there are probablly at least 5 teams Seahawks, Colts, Patriots, Panthers, and Broncos who are better football teams than the Steelers, but they are the Super Bowl Champs!!!

Holmgren should demand a review of the game by league. Of course he would most likely get fined if he suggested that. Worst case of officiating I've seen by non SEC officials.

Those weren't SEC refs, they must have been WWF refs, cause I felt I was watching Pro Wrestling.

I flipped over at halftime and watched Meet Joe Black. Hadn't seen it before; great movie. Anthony Hopkins had a better chance with Death than the Hawks had with those refs.

Far and away the worst-officiated game I've ever seen in a championship in football.

Imagine if the Seahawks got all those BS calls? The score would have been about 55-3.

I'm happy for the Steeler fans, but the Seahawks were the better team, period, and they got screwed.

in the NFL as opposed to NCAA football, it is rare to see the refs deciding a championship game. I believe it would have been a different ballgame had it not been for the calls . case in point. the wr pass for a TD. had it been on the 28 instead of the 43, Cowher never calls that play! plus had seattle been ahead(as they should have been) the steelers couldnt be as unpredictable, and the seahawk defense would have taken advantage of that!

All good points but why does the refs and the nfl want the steelers to win so bad...whats wrong with the hawks winning it...this game just looked like it was a scripted fix...i was clueless most of the time while i was watching it

The pass interference on Darrell Jackson was real, like it or not he pushed off. And remember the NFL has been cracking down on contact after 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. The push off allowed him to get open and it must be called.

Big Ben didn't cross the goal line but on 4th and an inch to go I can't believe that Cower would not have gone for it, that is the kind of coach he is. And I can't believe Pittsburg would not have scored.

Seattle did get a bad call on the holding call on the pass to Stevens at the one and the clipping call called against Seattle on the insuing interception.

But the refs did not cost Seattle the game. What did cost them the game was missed opportunities, ecspecially early in the game. And the poor clock management at the end of the half and the end of the game. Pittsburg played well and Seattle did not. That is why Pittsburg won the game.

I couldn't disagree more, with all of the above ^ .

Interference on Jackson? Then every play in football, there would be a flag.

The Miami Herald.......
Bill Leavy and his crew ruined Super Bowl XL. Am I the only one who would like to hear them defend their incompetence?
http://www.journaltimes.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=3928
No, what I'm going to remember about Super Bowl XL is the officiating, and how abysmal it was. And if Seattle coach Mike Holmgren didn't know better and knew he wasn't going to incur a hefty fine for criticizing the zebras, he'd be the first to agree. Holmgren's team was the recipient of some questionable calls, highly questionable calls.

Pittsburgh beat Seattle 21-10 to win Sunday's game. The Steelers may or may not have been the better team. They certainly got the best of the officiating.
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Co...467&call_pageid=969907729483&col=970081562040
A game that was more of a Medium than an XL certainly wasn't aided by the way ABC cameras exposed what we've been told are the best officials in North America's biggest league. The fact that calls were blown on the NFL's biggest stage was bad enough, the fact that almost every call went against the underdog Seahawks no doubt had Seattle conspiracy theorists throwing lattes at their TV sets.
and these are just some............Horrible Officiating
