Just hoping for a bit of help with the tailgating action down in Ttown. I am coming for the mizzou game in a few weeks, from MO. I will be in town around noon on friday. I have done some research and would love some of your guys take on if I can even do this. It looks like there are a few open areas on the quad that are first come first serve, with an option for friday afternoon. How early would I have to arrive to get in line for that type of spot? Is my visitor tailgate tent/tv/and coolers safe overnight? I went to Mizzou LSU two years ago and had my cooler jacked, not terrible, but would prefer to go home with everything I brought. If this isn't much of an option, are there any other areas that are tailgate friendly for a tv satelite tent spot? Open to any help or tips. Never been and my group enjoys an early start to the festivities, will be a long day, not even a slight hope for a win. SEC away games are just so much better than the Big12. We enjoy checking out the new places.

We do have a Gameday Guide link on the home page. Not sure if it addresses your questions, but it does have tons of useful information of things to do and see while in Tuscaloosa. Hope you get your answer soon. Win or lose, you should have a great time. Bama fans will treat you with respect other than some oddball drunk who we frown upon when they speak, lol.

There will be plenty of free spots available Saturday morning on the Quad. There are a few places reserved but if it is not marked off, it is fair game. I have gone over on Friday night and left a tent to save my spot but I normally just go Saturday morning. They even let you drive up to the Quad and drop off your stuff for a couple of hours Saturday morning. The actual times should be listed on the Game Day site. https://uagameday.com/

You will thoroughly enjoy it and will be welcomed by all. Have a great weekend!

Thank you very much for all of the good feedback! I am going to try and score a spot Saturday morning. Mizzou isn't a big name, so I am going to keep my fingers crossed that spots will be available. I appreciate all the information and looking forward to my visit!!

The Mizzou game is Alabama’s Homecoming.

Friday, 7PM — pep rally and bonfire.

Saturday 1PM, parade

Game time 6PM.

Don’t know if that’ll affect access to tailgating areas or not.

Check out homecoming.sa.ua.edu for more details.

Regarding security of personal property — UAPD patrols overnight, but I do hear occasional stories of boosted coolers and generators. You’re probably safe, but nothing’s 100%.

I’ve tailgated on the quad many times. Given that it’s Homecoming, I suggest you rough set your tent ( don’t raise it, but set it), or put down a tarp where you want to set your tent on Friday evening. Also, find a power plug near your spot on a Quad Light Fixture/Pole and run your extension cord to your spot (generators are not allowed on Quad). Bring some duct tape to tape down the cord as you will likely have to cross a sidewalk with the cord. Then you’re good to go for unloading balance of stuff Saturday morning.

Believe it or not, there’s a spot right near the SW corner of the Quad that was available every time we tailgated. It’s right next to the curb where you unload and is the nearest spot on the Quad to Bryant-Denny.

Enjoy!

Don't sell yourself short, most Bama fans are savvy enough to know that you will be at least the 2nd best if not the best team Alabama has faced until that point in the schedule. Though admittedly the front of the schedule is not tough this year. They expect a test of the secondary if nothing else. Surprisingly, you ran the ball well on UGA, so you can do both. But for the game, hope you have a great time.

Mizzou and UA are different in how they are set up. I went to the MO-UA game in 2012 ( great experience besides the weather plan to go again).

Mizzou seems to have everything at the stadium and parking on the outskirts of the stadium portion of the campus.

UA has its main place at the quad and a few other places sprinkled throughout. Parking is pretty bad so get there early.

LSU tailgating the experience is different depending which side of the stadium you do it. Just guessing but you probably went to the young rambunctious side.

Also if you get a chance go to the Bryant Museum.
