damn missin- you're good!
Well folks- what can I say? That had to be the best Talladega I've ever been to! Had folks from Chicago, Houston, Mobile, Alexander City, and of course Atlanta. All got along well, and we partied harty! Where we sit in the infield (off turn 2) both the Busch and Winston Cup wrecks happened right in front of us! As a matter of fact, for the Busch race I saw the yellow car (Riggs #10?) get squirlly and yelled "crash" and the next thing we know the #2 car goes sliding by us on its hood. I'm glad nobody was hurt as that's one of the worst wrecks I've seen live. My buddy got it on video and that was the hit of the infield that night. Hit the souvenir trailers and interactive booths after the race then ate a great meal at the campsite. We got 2 sites this year to spread out and that was the smartest move of the weekend.
That night we of course hit "redneck mardi gras" in the infield and I can safely say the party has returned. Lost many brain cells, danced, and overall had a good time. There were people from all over at the race- the guy next to us was from Canada!
Sundays race was just about perfect for a Jr fan such as myself. Beautiful weather (I have the sunburn to prove it), great crowd (yes they booed Stewart mercilessly), and a great race/finish.
We got back to Atlanta at about Midnight as we waited for the traffic to die down. I'm recouping nicely today and my buddy goes back to Chicago tomorrow. Once again I highly recommend Talladega if you never been and if the above sounds like your idea of a good time.
