TCU vs UGA discussion (was: National Transfer Portal news)

I'd seen a lot of complaints about UGA fans on this board ever since I joined (which was a little over two years ago now). I live in Ohio so, naturally, I've never encountered a UGA fan in person. This being the case, I was never able to flat out agree with the opinions on this board about UGA fans being among the worst because I had never encountered any UGA fans.

However, the aftermath of last week's Peach Bowl has since happened and I can now agree with the opinions of UGA fans I see on this board...It was amazing to me that Georgia fans refused to give Ohio State any sort of credit after they were all predicting Georgia would win in a blowout.

I saw tweets saying things like "Ohio State played their A game, Georgia played their C game, and Ohio State still couldn't win" and I thought that was ridiculous. Instead of giving credit to your opponent after such a hard-fought game, you instead just say that your team played their "C game" because you can't accept the fact that Ohio State's A game was on par with Georgia's A game?

I also saw a bunch of tweets from UGA fans talking about how the refs kept Ohio State in the game, which was also ridiculous because UGA had quite a few questionable calls/no-calls go their way also.

The list goes on, but bottom line is that I finally see why so many members on this board feel the way they do about UGA fans.

On 92.9 in Atlanta today, Aaron Murray said he thinks Georgia will 3-peat. What made it even funnier was that he thinks our lack of experience at QB will hurt us next year, so I guess he thinks Bennett has a 9th year of eligibility.

I recall a similar sentiment from pro-Bama analysts after we beat Georgia in 2018 who thought we would 3-peat as well with Tua. That did not turn out so well for us.

I could live with TCU fans thumping their chest with a win more than I can stomach those dawg fans. One title in my lifetime and they believe they own the rights to CFB for the next 40 years. You may have the blueprint Kirby, but you ain’t the original!

I doubt I will be awake for the entire game, but I do hope TCU whips UGA. I have enjoyed watching UGA play these last few years because I like how they still play football in a physical manner, but I do not want another team to win back-to-back. Go Horned Frogs! Now, I wouldn't bet my own money on a TCU victory, but I do hope they win. Mainly, though, I hope we are playing in the title game again next year.

Mike Griffith of Dawgnation basically said he sees Georgia threepeating next year and Georgia will be better next year. I just don’t see it. BTW, He called Nick Saban a Zombie coaching football.
The biggest thing I see with this Georgia run , is the timing.
Alabama had to deal with a great Clemson program, a really good Oklahoma Program with an unbelievable offense, a really good Urban Meyer Ohio St program.
Georgia has to deal with ‘the worst teams in the Nick Saban era ‘ Alabama teams , Clemson on the decline, a questionable Ryan Day Ohio St program , a sell out of an OU program. I think 2018, 2019, 2020 Alabama would smoke this Georgia team .

Which is why I wish the guy that busted his butt in the SEC title game that all the UGA fans said should have been a penalty would have hit him harder so his head would have landed in the endzone and rolled around.

Just a thought…do you really want to spend 3 or 4 hours watching a game that you know the outcome? You’ll never get that time back and you’ll have to watch the worst fanbase in college football celebrate winning back to back championships. Step away from the TV

I think TCU is going to shock a lot of people. TCU is a really good team and they have a good shot of pulling this upset. They just got done beating a really good Michigan team, and they went through a very difficult Big 12 conference this season. TCU is a scrappy bunch and they just know how to find a way to win big games. I can't wait to see this game tonight.

TCU losing him against Michigan was unfortunate -- he was having a great game.

Thankfully, TCU's RB2 came in and looked pretty good.

I understand the deja vu feeling though. Bama fans and Ohio State fans unfortunately both know what it's like to have multiple top offensive players out against UGA in a playoff game.

To be fair, Georgia might be without some of their key guys too though. I know they played Ohio State without Warren McClendon (starting OT) who'd been a multi-year starter. Darnell Washington (TE) and Chaz Chambliss (starting Jack LB, who was really their 2nd string Jack LB before becoming the starter after Nolan Smith suffered a season-ending injury against Florida) also both left the Ohio State game with injuries.

Not sure if any of these Georgia players I mentioned will be playing tonight, but I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
