Top TE Philip Lutzenkirchen, an AU commit, has not been contacted by Chizik yet and is exploring his options. Coach Saban met with him on Fri and we are being considered.

I'm not sure we will have room, but this kid looks like he could be a pretty good TE some day. I would love to have him if for no other reason that to keep him from the Barn.

Lutz is one of Auburn's few truly elite commits this year. Would be a huge loss for them if he goes elsewhere ... and I'm sure we would make room somehow if he wanted to come to Bama.

Yep. With last year's recruits and what's left of this years class, the Barn is going to have some 'size' issues.

I would love to get this kid but from what I understand he comes from a Barner family and I'm not sure we could land him but never say never when Nick Saban is in charge.

Yeah, from all I have gathered he is pretty much as big an auburn fan as you will find. I suspect if Chizik doesn't completely blow his recruitment he will end up at the barn. If they lose him I think that is a terrible omen about how Chizik is going to stand up to the rest of the SEC in recruiting in the future.

I'm amazed that Chizik didn't immediately fly to Lutzenkirchen's home. This guy is the jewel of their class, IMO.

I'm not sure we'll ultimately have room for Lutzenkirchen in this class, and that wouldn't be because he's an elite guy, because he certainly is. It looks like South Carolina or Tennessee, if Chizik continues to ignore him.

We have plenty of depth at TE, but this guy is a really good one nonetheless.

I cant believe Chizik hasnt talked to him yet. With Robinson and Coleman gone, he's pretty much the only SEC-caliber commit they have.

If they lose this guy AND Raymond Cotton, there class is pretty much been deep-sixed. Chizik has his work cut out for him.

Lutzenkirchen will visit UA on Friday. Chizik has called twice and is going to his house on Saturday. We'll see if we can make up some ground this weekend.

Well as said above in a premium article on another site dated Dec. 17th (same day as the AJC article) Lutzenkirchen is quoted as saying that he remains committed to Auburn, and that Coach Chizik has called him twice and he is going to be at the home of Lutzenkirchen on Saturday for a visit. Somebody got this story wrong. This would not be the first time that the AJC has put out some erroneous recruiting info.
