Has anybody hear anything about Tyler Edwards and his family recieving death threats? A poster on ESPN.com claims that there is a site that states that Edwards and his family has recieve death threats. I've been looking for it for awhile, and can't seem to find anything about it. I was wondering if anybody else have heard of it?

Not trying to start a rumor, just trying to find the truth.

Re: Tyler Edwards

He has received immense pressure to stay at LSU. People have told him "you'll never get a job in LA after you graduate if you go to Bama."

Death threats? I would HOPE not.

It is an absolute shame people won't let kids go to school where they are more comfortable and WANT to go!!!! We all want the best Alabama recruits to come to Bama but if they really rather be somewhere else that is where they should GO.
Threats like that would make me want to move OUT of the state!!!!

If that is a case, then that would be a bridge Edwards could burned. People don't go to Louisiana because of the many impressive jobs. I'm pretty sure Edwards===depending on his major===could prolly find better jobs outside of LA.

Not unless your in the demolition, construction or disposal business!
There are quite a few jobs in Southwestern LA in the Oil Industry.

The NFL is probably the job he is working toward at this point in his life.

I know pressure can be put on kids to go to the state school, but if someone threatened me it would push me the other way.

Re: Tyler Edwards

Lots of talk going on over at the BOL forums about Tyler announcing during the game on Saturday. Tyler said he's known for a long time where he's going. Some good sources over at BOL are predicting the Tide!

All together now - cross fingers and toes.

I'm feeling better about our chances than I once did . They already have a stud coming in with this class & we will have 3 SR TE's in '08 .

(I'm crossing my fingers too.......but will have to throw in I worked in Red Stick 1 year and those people are seriously violent at times for very little reason. FWIW,I really feel there is some danger for his family if he signs with Bama, and I wouldn't be surprised if that kept him in State!

I can understand your feelings about the situation, but I doubt his family is in any real danger. Joe McKnight left, and he is a much more important recruit and nothing has happened to his family. Tyler will make the best decision for himself.

Re: Tyler Edwards

I love Tyler Edwards and have seen him play and he is great on the field. However, he has a teammate Montrell Conner a junior Rb that I
want even more. A close friend of mine is on that high school staff and I am telling you the work ethic, leadership skills, and great athletic ability that Conner has is exactly the kind of player we need at Bama. He is also great on the field. So here's hoping we get Tyler and Montrell Conner.

Excellent point. The OP asked if anyone knew of a website that mentioned death threats. So far no one has provided any reference must less proof of any. I'm sure he has heard comments about why not to go to Bama, but I doubt there have been any serious threats. I think he will be a good player, but I also think he will end up at LSU unfortunately. Not sure we have room left for all of the players being mentioned as possibles. We only have about 4 spots left, and I don't know if a TE is valuable enough to squeeze him in.

Re: Tyler Edwards

Edwards seems like a good prospect, but I highly doubt he goes to Alabama. Moreover, we'd probably have to shuffle up our board a bit if he commits, though in all fairness if Harris ends up at Auburn that may create a spot with no problems.

Again though, I figure it's essentially a given that he goes to LSU. We got Robby Green from Louisiana, just like we got Luther Davis a year ago, but that will probably do it. We should get around one or so per year out of that state, but anything above that is going to be a stretch as long as LSU continues to do well.

The fact that we made it an incredibly tough decision for a kid who otherwise should have been an LSU lock speaks volumes about the strength of our recruiting at the moment. But nevertheless I fully expect Edwards to commit to LSU in a couple of days. I would be pretty shocked if he committed to Alabama.
