Tebow

Oh sure, I mean even Earl Campbell can barely walk now because of his bad knees, and that guy was an absolute machine when he played for the Oilers. You can't take 4-5 shots per run and expect to last too long (even though Campbell lasted 9 years, but he's a very rare exception of an unstoppable force).

Tebow is good right now as a backup qb, but as soon as he has to take on the full responsibility of being a qb, he'll be introduced to some SEC defense and he won't last long at all. He'll still be good, but just not as good!

Is the suggestion being made that an ACL tear will not slow Tebow down? I think we're entering the theater of the absurd...

No, where'd you get that from?

No doubt he going to leave his mark at UF and maybe the SEC. Like some on here i think Meyers is running him too much and putting his future at risk. He is a QB not a tailback and if anything happends Meyers can only blame himself. I guarantee you the fans will.
Meyers is reeling in top five classes and is loaded for bear but if he can't keep his QB healthy it can all go down the tubes real quick.

Above, the statement was made that an ACL would humble him like everyone else (I understand, having had a torn ACL), the reply was "I doubt it." Perhaps the poster's fingers got ahead of his thinking. My personal opinion is that Tebow will suffer a torn ACL, the main question being "when." And, my further opinion is that he would have had a better chance of completing his career without that injury would have been far less at Bama. Coaches are put in the position, almost like commanders in combat, of weighing the various risks of their gameplans and overall strategy. CUM knows exactly what the risks are to the QB, the "main man" in his offense. I don't wish TT ill at all, on the contrary. But he's playing in an offense that's really tough on QBs. RBs are a lot easier to find than QBs...

Tebow should do fairly well at Florida. Jones when he was at Arkansas ran quite a bit too and I don't recall him spending a lot of time in the hospital.

Matt Jones ran a 4.3 40 at Arkansas too, But I agree with the rest of you guys. Tebow will be in for a major disapointment next year..

With the talent UM has down there and the passing skills (along with his running ability) Tebow has I don't think any type of "disapointment" will be of the "major" variety.

Also keep in mind UM isn't a bad playcaller and I'd imagine he'll mix up pass and run enough.

Just my personal opinion but I've been saying all along that Urban Meyers Utah offense WILL NOT WORK in the SEC on a 100% basis. That is why it's working some now! It is being used less than 10 plays per game and defenses aren't spending enough time against it in practice to adapt to it during the game.

Tebow has proven to be a great QB in the role he's been playing so far. Only time will tell if he is as good when he's the starter and in for 100% of the plays in a game. Also, he's gained weight since last year and from my perspective has to watch his weight or he'll get too heavy to run as effectively.

Finally, he seems very durable today...but I agree with those who believe that his body won't be able to take the punishment of a full season if he's asked to run as much has the Ute's asked their QB to run. With that said, Urban seems to be using his QB shuffle very well and may adapt to a Tebow only offense just as well. We'll know for sure next fall, but for now it is working perfectly.

IMHO, once CUM fully installs his offense I don't think we'll see Tebow running nearly as much as we have this year. The kid has obviously got a great arm and he'll be using it. Just look at all the stud receivers they've recruited - and that's just one class so far.

Nevertheless, I agree that at some point he's going to get hit hard, and not from in front of him (which he obviously runs right through) and it's going to hurt him. He plays tough and doesn't take any measures to protect himself and that simply catches up to you eventually.

BTW (and I'm not minimizing what a beast this kid is) but has anyone else noticed that it wasn't Landry he bulldozed through on that particular run play? Not that it really matters, but I bet Landry is pleading his case to all who'll hear.

All these predictions of gloom and doom sound like a bunch of sour grapes to me. I get the feeling y'all are actually hoping he'll wreck a knee so y'all can claim "I told you so." It doesn't take a clairvoyant to predict the possibility of him being injured, after all, he is playing football and it ain't of the flag variety

I hear Tebow's name on a daily basis. The sportstalk radio here in Florida is all about him. I have also learned alot about his character and I'll tell you this. He is the real deal. His mentality is not that of a quarterback but more of a linebacker. He likes to run the football and he will try to punish you if you get in his way. He doesn't let up on any plays and is as fierce a competitor as you will see on the football field. I get tired of hearing all the hype and those trying to start a QB controversy between he and Leak but when it comes down to it he is really all the things that you hear about. He might get hurt, he did in high school. He will play hurt even with broken bones. Bottom line is Florida got a winner with heart and we all wish he had come to Bama no matter what any of us say now. Last year in the state championship Tebow came in and played the last series on the defensive line to help secure their victory. Everyone was holding their breath at the University of Florida when this happened but that is the way this kid is. I personally like the kid and the heart he plays with.

on a funny note: there was a sign in the stands of the LSU/Florida game that read, " Superman wears Tim Tebow PJ's"
I don't care who you are... thats funny.

Something to consider for all of the non-believers out there . Brother Oliver , who has seen it all , has publicly stated that TT is "The best I've ever seen" on at least three occasions . Just how many QB's has Brother seen ? Thousands ? Far more than any of us . Now it's my turn to pull a Beano . Well not quite but , TT will make at least one trip to New York when they hand out that Heisman thing .

So the consensus seems to be that Tebow is going to run some sort of wishbone offense where he tucks it and runs ever play? I doubt very seriously that we'll see the same offense at uf that CUM ran at Utah. I think he'll certainly run a variation of it, but I don't expect to see Tebow tucking it and running every down. The kid has a good arm and I would expect we'll see plenty of it. His running ability only serves to make him like a Steve McNair....a bull to bring down. Will there be plays designed for him to run? Sure. Will every play be designed for him to run? No.

Maybe we could all chill with the pseudo-wishing that he'd shred his knee. I agree with Tommy...it's kind of sickening to read all the people clamoring to give their predictions of broken and/or shredded knees. Why is no one predicting that about any of their (or ours for that matter) running backs?

Let's keep the thread civil, guys, so it can stay alive. Everyone here is entitled to his own opinion and not to be attacked for it. And, trying to read into someone's words that he wishes a kid harm is definitely an attack. It's amazing to me that a discussion over a player on another team can generate this kind of heat...

It wouldn't surprise me if TT gets hurt by a hard shot from an SEC defense, but it also wouldn't surprise me if UM tweaked the offense (say, following said incident) enough to limit his exposure to hard hits...

I think Tebow will be tough, and UM's offense could put him in danger, but UM has already proven that he's willing--and capable--of implementing changes when they're needed...I think the combination of TT and UM makes for some scary years for SEC teams (and I also think he would have thrived in Bama's pro-style offering as well with CMS...I'm not suggesting otherwise)

Geez, are you ever in denial if you think things are about as good as they'll get for UM. Get your head out of that ernge fog. UM, just in his 2nd year has already proved that he can recruit with the best of them and its highly unlikely that the incredibly rich talent pool in the state of Florida is just gonna suddenly dry up.

You viles are just gonna have to come to grips with the liklihood that your 98 $ea$on is gonna have to last y'all for a long, long time. Richt and UM are both better coaches than Foolmer and are in states that produce tons of talent. I don't see tutorsee sniffing even an SEC East title in the near future, much less an SEC title.

Look man, you can dislike us all you want and I am no fan of UF. But that has nothing to do with my assesment of players. There is a huge difference in a kid coming in every now and then and a kid being the man. He may very well be as good as they are buliding him up but until he proves it on a regular basis I will hold my opinion. As far as Richt goes, I think we just played them and how did that turn out for UGA. We played one of our worst games against UF and I give them credit for the win. But TT didn't beat us, Leak was the one who made the clutch throws. Also the biggest reason UF beat us was because of their Defense. Our O line was horrible and I give them credit for exploiting it. I think this year could be the brightest for UM. JMHO

Yes, Tebow could get hurt running as often as he does. But as I said before, who really knows what UM's offensive system will be when Leak is gone. Also, Tebow won't be running the offense by himself, he will have the best talent in the SEC surrounding him. I don't personally care for Tebow but certainly don't wish any harm to come to him. UT. UA and LSU did not stop Tebow from getting his job done in those situations UM scripted for him and I have no reason to believe UGA will either. I am not knocking UT or UGA only saying that Ron Zook, the last time I checked, was the HC at Illinois not UF and ya'll are going to have to contend with UM even after Tebow is gone.
