Tebow

In the last day or so I read an article about how UM plans to use TT next year and how different it would be from this year. In it he specificaly mentioned limiting his runs due to the durability/risk factors that have been mentioned here. In no means will he become a drop back passer, but he will not be doing near the running that many predict/expect.

Either way, injuries still happen and even pocket passers are not immune. As for his perfomance this year, each game I expect him to be stopped hard, and it hasn't happened yet. It will come and I am sure the college football world will rejoice, but people seem to forget that he was palying high school ball last year. It will definitly be much more involved and difficult next year when he is starting but I see no reaosn why he would struggle any more than any of the other first year QB's this year. By then he will have played, albiet sparingly, in a number of big games both home and away and I don't take him for the panicing type if/when things don't go his way. Naturally I don't expect 6 yards a carry and a TD pass every 2 or 3 throws but that doesn;t mean that he will fail.

Either way, good thing this is a team sport.....

Urbi better hold onto his jockstrap because pretty soon the other four teams in
his own division arent going to be his only competition. If he thinks hes going
to win out each and every individual player head to head against us in the recruiting wars then he might need to quit sniffing the crack. Pretty soon
Bama is about to be back at full strength and well cherry pick their trees. We have always gotten players from the state of Fla and this time
will be no exception. I have positive faith that teams like Fla,barn, and lsu
that swiped players from our slates for the past 10 years are about to be brought back into reality on who they just up and take and rack up as far as talent. Everybodys daddy didnt go to fla and play for fla and last time I checked you can only sign so many due to nzaa parity. Same with us and every other school in this conference.

RECRUITING: Bert Reed commits to Gators ... Of course he can still change his mind. I don't think we have gotten every player we have been after seems like we had several committments that changed their minds before it was said and done (Cleveland and williams who are starting for ARK as examples), lost out on Mr. Smith to you guys, and Spiller who is playing very well for Clemson, just to name a few. Fortunatley, UM and staff are pretty good at finding talent whether it be big name or little hyped. Fortunatley, the state of FL is big enough to support a number of schools. It is not like we pick up that many players from AL. Maybe we get Corley this year, but he is on the border, and there may be one or two more on the list but nothing that is going ot break the class.

From what i have seen this year, JPW has just as good a chance as getting hurt as Tebow does. Point is QB is always susceptible to injury. Its the nature of the beast.

Look man, you can dislike us all you want and I am no fan of UF. But that has nothing to do with my assesment of players. There is a huge difference in a kid coming in every now and then and a kid being the man. He may very well be as good as they are buliding him up but until he proves it on a regular basis I will hold my opinion. As far as Richt goes, I think we just played them and how did that turn out for UGA. We played one of our worst games against UF and I give them credit for the win. But TT didn't beat us, Leak was the one who made the clutch throws. Also the biggest reason UF beat us was because of their Defense. Our O line was horrible and I give them credit for exploiting it. I think this year could be the brightest for UM. JMHO

Are you so naive as to believe that Tebow will not improve over the next three years? That upon becoming "the man" his skills will either remain the same or diminish?

Yeah, y'all beat UGA this season, but that only makes Foolmer 2-4 against Richt and he's 0-2 against UM. Then there's Spurrier and we all know how he owns Foolmer.

What point were you trying to make by saying that the only reason Florida beat y'all this year was because of their defense? Last I heard, it doesn't matter whether its defense, offense or special teams, they're all part of it and the W is just as binding.

And, do you really believe that Meyer's career at UF has peaked in just his 2nd year?

Urban Meyer has hand-crafted a beautiful ship that will sail it's way to the NC every year with SuperTim at the hull.

Only problem this year is that there's still a Leak in this boat.

I don't think anybody has ever implied that Tebow would win the Heisman or that UM would win the NC every year, and I, for one, am on record as picking them to lose at AU Saturday. The reality is that UF's program is on the rebound after the Zook years and UT and UGA will have to get better if they plan on going to Atlanta on a regualr basis.

Meyer has UF headed in the right direction and Tebow will help him move the program along. Anyone who can't see that isn't paying attention.

As for Auburn, they are losing confidence with each of their outings while Florida is gaining momentum. I don't expect that to change this weekend, especially when you consider that AU has lost their starting center, their starting TB has turf toe, their backup TB has a pulled groin and may not play, and their QB has a sore knee and ankle.

All UF has to do is what Arky did -- shut down AU's running game, put double coverage their one receiver, then chase down their hobbled QB. If Arky can do it, UF's defense can certainly to it. I'll be surprised if UF wins by less than 10.

I picked the Aubs but hope you are right.

Although it's funny to imagine a ship slicing through the water with a person strapped to the bottom, the control area of the ship is called the helm.

You're right. Most QBs would be controlling the ship from the helm. But I like to think of ole' Tebow down and dirty under the hull - duking it out, running with broken legs, torn ACLs, everything. The dude can do it all!

(Tongue-in-cheek humor here)

From what Meyer has seen so far, he has nothing but confidence that Tebow can run through defenses instead of sliding or ducking out of bounds like most quarterbacks should do.

"The one thing about Tim is he'll usually win that battle," Meyer said.

I love it. It's just like that scene in Titanic where the captain laughs heartedly saying "The Titanic can't sink. That's preposterous!"

Yes, he definitely is the "media Darling" right now; but I too think TT is in for a rude awakening when he is THE starting QB and has to do ALL the shots.........I just don't think his bod will be able to take the constant pounding of the BIG SEC guys rushing him!!

Urban Meyer is a pro at PRing his QB and I too am a bit jealous that he got Timmy away from us; but hey that goes with the territory.........he's from the state of Florida and I really did NOT think he would leave it to come up to Bama, did you? lol:BigA:

No QB with that style can take the pounding over 12-14 games a year. He was injured in HS in his So and Sr yrs I think. If he rushes 10-15 times a game and throws 20 times a game and take 5 hits from that, that totals to 15-20 hits a game. Take that for 12-14 games a year and it works out to 180 to 280 hits a year. Big and tough aside that is a lot of hits for any QB to absorb.
You don't run as hard and your passes are not as crisp in late October as they are in September. Heck those DL will rotate with other big bodies and all of them will have him in their sights.
This is not a knock on Tebow's talent. He is a really talented QB. But right now he is in ideal situation for himself. He comes in, does his thing and goes right out. But how effective will he be when he is taken a few blind side hits on pass plays and then looks up at the defense moving around on the next play trying to confuse him and uber wants him to go pound into the line again? Not very - especially not all season.

Tebow is not your ordinary quarterback. The guy bench presses over 500 lbs (that's not a typo...he benched 225 38 times at the combine). That is absolutely SICK for a guy his size. Most linemen can't bench what he can bench (most OL get about 15-25 reps @ 225). This kid is a beast, and is going to give a lot of people some headaches in the next few years. He's Bo Jackson combined with Brett Favre. The hype is warranted. SEC defenses do not scare him. LaRon Landry sure didn't scare him:

Wow!!! A few games into his college career (as a backup no less) and you're comparing him to Hall of Fame caliber players! Call me crazy, but that's a little over the edge if you ask me. He has a lot of talent to be sure, but to compare him to Bo Jackson and Brett Favre at this point in his career is absolutely ludicrous!

Tebow will force the rest of the sec to change the defense just to account for him, when that happens he will get WHACKED!!!!
