I would call it a great move. Similar to Richt's endzone celebration a few years back. They aren't expected to win...if wearing Orange would get a a team to play above their abilities. I would take the penalty.

Dude not to rain on that parade but if loudmouth needs a certain color of jersey to fire his team up to play BAMA then he has a TON of issues..... BAMA could wear freaking pink for all I care just beat ucheat, lswho and the barn~!~:Smiliz_Kingz_PDT_02

Kiffin has already gotten what he wanted out of this...a lot of buzz and attention. It was a win/win for him...

I kind of hope they do it...let their players get all extra pumped up and have the extra adrenaline rush at the start of the game...that will play into our 4th quarter style and with their depth issues on the line we will grind those orange jerseys into a pulp late in the game. Plus...when you are over-hyped and trying to prove a point to the world, you tend to make more aggressive mistakes and penalties. UT is not disciplined enough to play with this type of hype and not shoot themselves in the foot, Elmer Fudd style...

On the other hand it is close to Halloween and having some orange stomped into the turf might give Bryant Denny a more decorative look~!~

Never will happen.
Conceding 30 yards (or more) for the simple matter of wearing a different color jersey would be ridiculous. Kiffin is smarter than that. I think.
I'm not sure he's smarter than that or not, he hasn't proved it so far. Of all the dumb stunts he's pulled this past year, i wouldn't put it past him.

I really don't care what color we kick there butts in.

I think it would be great if UT wore Orange in BDS and Alabama wore Crimson in Neyland. That would be rather unique to a storied tradition. As fans we should ask for that.

I'll add that I don't care if it starts in Neyland or BDS. I just think it would be a very cool thing to do for both schools.

Of course, I grew up with the crimson/orange scheme. I'd like to know what the QBs really think. If they think there's no danger of confusion, then I'm OK with it. As I said earlier, at one time back in the '50s, the MSU maroon was so close to the version of crimson we were wearing, it was really difficult to tell the teams apart, but no one complained. For a while in the late 60s, early 70s, our crimson got so light there was no way to call it anything but "red." I'm glad it's back to the original color...

Danger of confusion? Come on we are trained not to shoot at things in orange. It shouldn't be hard to translate that to "Don't throw at the people in orange."

Surely it would not be very hard to tell the difference. If they seem to think so then ok but they seem very different to me but then again I don't have Cody breathing down my neck! lol

But I think it would be a really cool thing to do and would add a little more umph to a great rivalry. I would also like to see it on the 3rd Sat of Oct every year as well.

I think that the fact that CNS referred the decision to CMM is telling. If he'd felt there was any real danger of confusion, I think he would have vetoed it and Mal would have backed him...

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he is about 100 yds away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli"

– Jerry Duncan’s comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee.

If UT were a better team, and we were Vandy, I could see Kiffin taking the penalty. But as it is, I would think he would be smarter than that. Can you imagine the fan uproar if Coach Saban entered a game giving the opposing team 15 yards off the bat?

Oh, I am vacationing in Tennessee this weekend. So I am looking forward to Alabama supplying a beat down.

Give Bama 2 15-yard penalties plus fire up the home team and fans?? No way.
If he does it, the verdict will be in. If they should win, the UT faithful will canonize him. If he loses, he becomes so much of a laughingstock that even the UT PTB can't ignore it. There's only so much of the "trainy-wheels" which can be tolerated...

Let 'em wear orange. I know a certain coach who would use that to motivate his players. Nothing like a little disrespect on your home turf to get the team fired up.
