I've always been partial to the 1990 Alabama - TN game. I'm sure I'll watch the DVDof it some time this week.
I like this one a lot too. I live in Nashville and decided to watch the Johnny Majors Show on Sunday that week. I'll never forget as the highlights got into the 4th quarter, Johnny saying "I told them boys you gotta lock up on a back like Stacy!" It was hysterical.

It's entirely possible that Johnny was "under the influence".

Agree with this. The last several years have been terrific with UT as a non-factor. Hope it stays that way for years to come!

Re: Tennessee vs Alabama

One of my favorite memories in Alabama Football history was when Philip Doyle nailed a 47 yard FG on the last play of the game to beat an undefeated and heavily favored Tennessee team in 1990. Sweet!
Yes that game sucked. We were setting up for the winning field goal and Bama blocked it and the ball bounced 40 yards down the field in your favor. Bama started the year with three straight losses as I recall and we had a good team, losing to notre dame and tieing Colorado who played for the national title. Anything can happen....

We sat next to a UT fan that night. Just before the game started, he said, "If you guys can't beat Memphis State, I don't see how you expect to stay on the same field with us." After the Dunn to Goode bomb in the first quarter made it 21-0, he got up to "go to the bathroom" and never came back.
Jeff Dunn never played like that again.

You may be thinking of the 1989 game. Siran was hurt in 1990. The 1990 game was won with Stacy Harrison blocking a FG inside a minute left. It rolled back towards our goalposts about 30 yards to allow Phillip Doyle to kick the game winning FG as time expired. We won 9-6. We were 2-3 before this game a huge underdogs to the Vols, as they were ranked #3 in the country.

You just don't realize just how low your team has dropped when a close last second win over South Carolina is your signature win & proof of a turn around.

Its South Carolina for goodness sake. Post this when y'all beat somebody which won't be next week.

You know, I've heard that same thing for years now.......everytime TN gets a new coach it's always the same until TN realizes that the fanbase has been duped again & again......rinse & repeat.....

My son is at UC working on his doctorate so I'm a little familiar with Butch Jones. While I think Bama will easily win this game, I also think that UT will be a good football team under Jones in a couple of years. I think he will recruit well and the Vols will be better conditioned and coached in the future.

I thought that was '91. Oh well.

And it's USC without their starting QB. I believe if Shaw had not gotten injured, USC would have won.

The UT people around here were harping that they were back after a victory over the might Govs of Austin Peay. It's hilarious.

Y'all are not even close to matching Alabama player for player or at coaching. The offensive line is the only bright spot for UT. As for recruiting Butch Jones will never be able to out recruit Saban.

Re: Tennessee vs Alabama

The 1987 game is one of my favorites for personal reasons. My wife and I had been married only since the prior December, so kind of second honeymoon with this trip to Tennessee. We had stopped over for the night in Chattanooga on our way to the Smokey Mountains. That beatdown was not expected, but certainly made the stay in Tennessee that week pretty sweet. First time to go up to that neck of the woods, and caught the color change at a peak. Beautiful country up there this time of year.
I was at that game with my UT brother in law...at 21-0 he just slumped in his seat. Seriously, he's a good sport and we have had a good rivalry through the years. Saying all that, I hope they never beat us again.
