Texas A&M Reports Barack Obama is 5th Best President Ever...You got to love those Aggies. Now this is my kind of polling and elections!

These are probably the first honest numbers we've seen since he became President.

From a total of 44 US Presidents, Obama is rated as the 5th best President ever!
The publicity release said, "After only 5 years in office, Americans have rated President Obama the 5th best president ever."

The details according to TEXAS A&M:

Washington, Reagan & Lincoln tied for first.

22 presidents tied for second.

17 other presidents tied for third.

Jimmy Carter came in 4th.

Obama came in fifth!

Well here's the way I look at it: you can either say the glass is 1/44th full, or 43/44ths empty. Aggies seem to be an optimistic bunch, so they're obviously taking the 1/44th full tack.

The poll would be conducted of mostly young people, who've probably only voted in one or two presidential elections, so their familiarity with most presidents would be limited. (Ask a random stranger about ranking Grover Cleveland or Howard Taft and see what they say.)

They would also be heavily influenced by major media or Daily Show 'news'. I would expect most colleges would give similar results.

When I saw the thread title, I actually thought that they meant UTw, which is a liberal institution of some kind of learning in Austin. I think that institution of so called higher learning has gone downhill since Madeline Murray O'hare.

I actually think the Aggies got it close to being accurate. However, most college students (about 99%) could not even name all the Presidents.

I think I could give a more precise ranking than them. There would NOT be 17 tied for third. Some may even be lower than Jimmy Carter. I'm not even sure that Jimmy Carter would have been a decent Secretary of Agriculture.

Yep, that's the point in the OP saying they are optimistically calling him the fifth best. Carter and Bo are definitely in the running for two of the worst ever. Nixon wasnt a gem either.
