Can someone explain to me why Jimbo Fisher is great? I know he won the title at FSU and escaped the titanic he created. Know all he does is go 8-5 for $80 million but he beat Alabama. 🤔

You pretty much nailed it. These second tier schools are so jealous over what Saban has created (and Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc.) that they are willing to do anything to catch us. Multi-millions for facilities, firing coaches and hitting anyone that has sniffed success (regardless of whether or not they have demonstrated they can sustain it). It's insane.

I think everyone is quick to blame Jimbo for FSU, but its far and away more the other way around. FSU has some of the worst facilities in the P5, and fought with Jimbo every step of the way in his efforts to improve them. Jimbo also has a son that has a rare condition that can only be treated at specialty facilities. He was literally spending alot of his time in Gainesville while his wife was doing other things.

FSU is a lost soul and Jimbo was the last thing keeping them up before they took back their pre Bobby position amongst real programs.

As far as a coach... Jimbo is easily a top 15 coach. But above that is anyone's guess.

I think i's easy to forget that ATM lost their starting QB early in the season, and while he wasn't lighting things up, he was better than his backup, who has had about one really good game (vs Bama).

But there are also about 3-5 HCs at any given time that are virtually guaranteed to be successful if you hire them, and they generally stay locked up at the schools where they are. Jimbo may well turn out to be the Next Great Coach, but even if he's not, he's better than most.

I was pulling for Texas AM to win. I just do not like Coach O at all. Plus, I wanted Texas AM to be ranked in the final rankings to help Bama's strength of record/schedule. Now I guess I will pull for Baylor and for Iowa next week, and of course for Houston. RTR

Jimbo has had the least explosive offense in the SEC every year he's been in the league.

His recruiting has been top notch, but scheme wise I feel like the game has passed him by a little. These long sustained drives where you control the clock only really work with great QB play -- it's far easier to win consistently when you use talent mismatches to create chunk plays.

I'm fine with him at A&M or LSU. Neither will be a true threat to us unless he changes his philosophy.
