1) the ref sucked and allowed Fury to wrestle

2) Wilder got hurt early and never found balance. So like Dub said. Don’t read too much into it. Hell Joshua had the same thing happen to him vs Ruiz.

3) Joshua has two automatic fights ahead so a Joshua- Fury fight is about 2 years from now

4) Joshua can’t hold these guys towels.

Point is a Wilder- Fury III is more likely than a Joshua Fury at this point
I am not sure which one of these points to dispute so I’ll just go with the fact that Wilder got whipped. I hate it, but it happened. But to say that Anthony Joshua can’t compete with these guys is BONKERS. His downfall is his spotty focus and that is largely due to his brainless management. If focused, he is hell on wheels and I believe will prove that against Fury, if the boxing morons ever put them together.

-Joshua is probably the 3rd best heavyweight in the world but there is a massive gap between #2 and #3. If Ruiz’s weight and punch gave him serious problems then Fury’s weight and Wilder’s punch sure as hell will put him on his butt. Joshua has also struggled with multiple fighters that both Wilder and Fury owned. So not Bonkers at all to say Joshua is clearly #3, and by a good margin.

-Joshua’s issue with a Fury fight is due to two reasons 1) Wilder has a rematch option and 2) Joshua has two mandatory bouts that he can’t get out of. Wilder may decline his automatic rematch in order to train up or get another team for next year vs Fury, but it’s unlikely that Joshua and Fury happens this summer like Hearn is making it out. It’s likely we see Wilder vs Fury III before Joshua vs Fury.

- No one is saying Wilder didn’t get whipped. But we are saying that the fight was over when Fury busted his eardrum. Yes Fury did that, and kudos to him for it.

Fury dominated every round including winning the first two rounds as well as taking control of the fight in the 3rd before the blow to Wilder's ear. There is an obvious gap at this time between Fury and Wilder. Fury hit Wilder with some viscous body shots and many may not realize how big they were.

I did not see the fight...I did see the walk-ups!!! That was a freaking circus!!! A very entertaining circus!!!
On the fight...I heard one of the talking heads say that the initial knock down was caused by a blow to the back of the head changing the overall trajectory of the fight? Any truth to that? Legitimately interested in any response(s)...

I've been a fan of Wilder since he rose to prominence and have followed his career pretty closely. But he has glaring weaknesses and has for a while. His skill level as a boxer is very marginal, but he's covered for them by having a really strong straight right hand and a decent eye for when to throw it. Sometimes, he's just downright gotten lucky. Also, I believe Wilder has become arrogant and complacent, and I believe his team has enabled that behavior to a certain extent. I get that cockiness comes with being a boxing champion, but the stupid outfits and rappers walking him to the ring and the other garbage he says are all just noise and need to disappear. He needs to grow some humility. Maybe this loss will help with that.

He's a small heavyweight, so he should be able to move better and throw the jab with more effectiveness. His hands should be a ton quicker than they are. It really surprised me that Fury at 273 lbs looked faster than Wilder at 231, because he shouldn't have been. Also, this fight wasn't just a beatdown. It was a clinic in how to stop Wilder. Even without the (as yet unconfirmed) ruptured eardrum, Fury was taking the fight to Wilder in the early rounds and getting little resistance. Fury was going to win this fight on points even if he wasn't able to stop him.

So if he humbles himself and looks objectively at himself and the people around him, he will make some changes. I think he needs to go back to the gym and learn to actually box, as opposed to just fight. I think he needs to work on his footwork, his jab, and his defense. If he does that, he will return to being the vicious opponent we like to see, but with a sound tactical plan behind him.

Fury has been boxing all his life. Wilder picked it up late and the difference showed that night. Nothing like getting that experience early in your life to learn from. Might be a good time to take this big check and retire while he has all his faculties. I think the only way he beats Fury is if Fury comes in to the ring complacent. He won't out box him.

Can’t win a fight backpedaling. Brawlers should always be the aggressors. Mike Tyson never waited for the opponent to come to him. With little to no reach, he always was under your armpit trying to end you.

So we are getting a third fight this year, and pretty much shuts Joshua-Fury out for the next two years without Joshua dropping multiple titles to make it happen. I think Fury actually prefers to fight Wilder again over giving Joshua a fight after he ran from both of them for years.

And last night, a straight right that put a man on the moon. First round. He’s the reason Fury retired, maybe he’ll fight again but he won’t fight DW again.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Deontay is not as good of a boxer as Fury from a technical standpoint, but he doesn't have to be. He's better than people give him credit for (one doesn't become a world champion without having some skill there) but Deontay is basically a "Min-Maxxed" DnD character lol.

He's hyperspecialized to a point he really only does one that sets him apart from the rest, but does it so well that he can end any fight in a heartbeat.
