The cost of endzone paint alone

Someone at the university told me that the cost of the end zone paint alone is around $80,000 a year. When coach came, he also wanted a wider white sideline versus the thin one that we had. He was advised it would cost an extra $10,000 and of course we now have a wide white sideline. And i believe the turf is replaced every year as well.

Of course i am not complaining at all. My response was pretty much....is there anything else we can do to make sure he is taken care of?

101,000+ tickets sold at $70 each = over $7,000,000. That's for 1 game. I think they can afford the $80,000 - $90,000 a year for paint.

Kinda hard to believe it would cost about 10-12K to paint the endzones for one game. I have seen small high school teams checkboard their endzones very well and I can't imagine they would have done so if it had cost that much.

But I am no expert on field paint...

:)

Kinda hard to believe it would cost about 5-6K to paint one end zone for one game. I have seen small high school teams checkboard their endzones very well and I can't imagine they would have done so if it had cost that much.

I was told it takes a crew 3 or 4 days to do all the painting.

There is a wide variation in cost on paint, depending mostly on quality...

If they checkerboard the endzone, leaving every other square unpainted, that would cut the cost of the paint in half. I imagine they use a waterbased paint, it would have to not be hard on the sod. Maybe the more expensive stuff has an additional fertilizer ingrediant.

When I was in high school one year they decided to checkboard the endzone. My history teacher was the coach that painted the field and he told us how much it cost and I forget the cost but it was very expensive. He was very mad when the boosters asked to have it done for the playoffs because of the expense.

So, after a couple of weeks or so, you could identify the yard markers by the high grass... :D

you sassin' the men-folk again?

End-zone paint, by comparison, is nothing like the cost of that female war-paint you ladies wear. (credit to Barney Fife) :)

The stuff is expensive. At my high school, we spend about $1400/yr on paint for our practice field alone. That's just for lines and hashes about 3 times every 2 weeks
