1. The media turned Robert Hur's amateur assessment of Biden's memory into a political crisis. Collectively, the

have run 66 articles quoting Hur: a "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory" But when the transcript of the Biden interview that undercut Hur's credibility was released on Tuesday, key excerpts received scant coverage

Easily one of the best editorials you'll see this year. It's basically an elongated version of a post I made the other day. The following quote summarizes things quite succinctly:

The great irony is that you never really need to lie about Trump. You don’t need to invent outrages. He’ll give you one himself, if you only let him talk long enough.
I suppose lying has become so integrated into American culture that Dems and Reps just can't help themselves. But really, why step on a dozen rakes when your target is willing to do it for you?

This is all BS.

Trump is difficult to quote because he often changes direction mid-sentence. But for anyone with a brain, that last bit about a “bloodbath” clearly refers to automotive jobs. Anyone watching this campaign or this issue would probably also assume that it was a reference to the Biden administration’s destructive embrace of electric vehicle mandates, which have U.S. automakers losing massive and unsustainable amounts of money building cars consumers aren’t buying.
This completely misses the mark. Trump was speaking to his base just like he was with the Proud Boys stand down and stand by comment. He has already demonstrated that he is willing to take over the country by coup. Ignore at your own risk. This hasn't got squat to do with the media misrepresenting what Trump said. NYT, WaPo, and ABC News all reported the bloodbath quote completely and accurately.

ETA: I don't know the exact number of 1/6 insurrectionists that claimed they were in Washington because they thought that's what the President wanted them to do, but it was a bunch.

100%.

And Trump said "that'll be the least of it" multiple times when talking about the auto industry.

Not to mention that the full context is that the entire stump speech praises the Jan 6 insurrectionists and calls them hostages and he promises them pardons, etc;...

The bastard even features them singing the national anthem (which may or not be modified - not clear on that).

Remember "Be there Jan 6. Will be wild!"?

Add that to stand back and stand by.

And many others.

The only people lying and gaslighting are those trying to give Trump cover, like the far right author of the article.
