BREAKING: Emotionally challenged Sen. Alex Padilla PRETENDS TO CRY recounting his detainment for rushing Kristi Noem press conference.

What a wuss. If this is another example of Dems trying to appeal to more men, I'm going to have to recommend a different strategy. Also, Noem had an opportunity to do the funniest thing here.....

Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ has shockingly low poll numbers with only a few bright spots - al.com

Like I said, the Democrats will probably win the House in 2026 simply by virtue of not being in charge of anything. Then they'll misread that as a mandate on abortion - and here we go again.
Most cycles, I would agree 100%, but as of today, polling reflects this as highly unlikely. Of course, a lot can change in a year and there's no question that Congress is full of morons.

Today, we heard from Felecia, a single mom of four who works up to three jobs at a time to make ends meet. She counts on SNAP to help put food on the table.

This is who Republicans in Congress are trying to take food away from.

Listen to her story.

Someone needs to tell Amy that this isn't helping her argument. This woman is clearly putting away 4-5K calories per day which is far more than I eat in a day. Seriously, do better and maybe a little more sympathy can be generated.

Also, is this the first time in world history when poor people actually outweigh the rich? I'm pretty sure it is. (And before anyone tries to go there, I am NOT making fun of this woman for being overweight. I'm just saying she isn't helping your argument.)
Lol what? Single mom of 4 working 3 jobs isn't sympathetic enough because she's overweight? IMO that's truly an insane way of thinking.
She may be the victim of a lifetime of bad choices, but I give her credit for beating anorexia.

Democrats and liberals complain, “Aren’t there more important things than renaming military bases”….. a fair if hypocritical point….but they counter this side issue with one that will deliver them the trifecta in 2028…..

celebrating black drag queens in a state that is 2.4% black…….and yes, it’s real (l thought this HAD to be satire)

I'd be happy with codifying reproductive freedom, overriding the activist Court on the matter.

But the next time they get power back, the forces of Gilead would repeal it. But it would allow some sanity for a few years.

Democrats could have codified this in 2009, but how then would they have been able to raise money on the issue?

That is the dirty little secret. Republicans know that even if they wanted to, they will never get an outright band, but they can keep raising money with it, and Democrats know they can raise money with it and keep holding the football out there like Lucy for Charlie Brown.

Republicans have abortions.
Democrats own guns.

Because the world is a whole lot more complicated than the one we are told about on television and at national party conventions.

The whole problem with “let’s abolish the filibuster for this one issue or two issues” is that Dems apparently learned nothing from Harry Reid and the last time they tried this.

Republicans will rue the day they began declaring frivolous “emergencies” that allow them to bypass the process. It will just take a committed liberal with some political smarts and both houses of Congress.

And that is always closer than it appears.
The GOP died in 2008 or so I was told. Eight years later, they were running the whole show again. Same with the 2004 Dems who ran virtually the whole everything in 2009.

Why should Republicans even push for an outright ban? They've done quite well stealing Supreme Court justices, and letting the Court overturn settled precedents like Roe( which Barrett and Kavenaugh both agreed was settled case law).

I fully expect this heinous Court to go after marriage equality as well.

Why is this such a common talking point - especially when it's wrong?

Even if - and I'm only doing this for the sake of this post - even if Garland:
a) got a hearing in 2016
b) actually got confirmed

.....it would STILL be a 5-4 conservative Supreme Court right now with Kavanaugh and Barrett.

But what would our politics be without mythical victims?

Is the assumption that getting Garland on the court somehow gets Hillary Clinton a win over Trump?

They've coopted much of the judiciary, partly by packing the courts with ideologues, partly through blocking Garland, and partly through willfully ignoring all the egregious ethics violations of Alito and Thomas, and also by looking past Kavanaugh's accusers.

And even if there were still just a 5-4 majority, that can still drastically change the dynamics. For one thing, the right would have move closer to the center to ensure getting all 5 votes. Moreover, Roberts works to avoid 5-4 rulings, thinking that they are weak.

Garland??? Isn't that the milquetoast loser that implied concerned parents at school board meetings were "domestic terrorists" and tried to sic the FBI on them. Thank god that loser is no longer part of our government and thank him/her even more that he never got appointed to the Supreme Court.

If you've ever wondered what a "Beta" is then just take one look at this guy. He's a poster child for it.

Remember the old "don't we have more important things to worry about than renaming military installations?" I swear, wasn't it just like in the last six weeks or so?

Well, apparently we DO have time to worry about the urgent national emergency of.....checks notes....renaming a Senate building.....

Russell Senate Office building should not be named for a ‘racist’: Al Green

Rep. Al Green (D-TX) is pressing the Senate to consider a new name for the Russell Senate Office Building, citing former Sen. Richard Russell’s record of opposing civil rights legislation and promoting white supremacist views.

Granted, Al Green has always been a clown, plain and simple. And I don't even disagree with him in the abstract notion of naming everything after Jesus Christ, the only perfect American who ever lived.
